Would I be wrong to....

The head of our LBGTQ staff network is stepping down. We've clashed in the past about women's rights. He has put in an email that while allies are appreciated the new head should be gay or trans etc etc. Would I be wrong to put myself forward on the basis that I'm straight but identify as gay?

Probably wrong yes because of appropriating a sexuality, if you did I'd go for B. Though still a sexuality its still a lie it's more believable.

Is actually go for a gender of your choosing, even be Genderfree and that's comes under the T or the Q and you know who you are and no one should tell you who you are right?

I'd go for it regardless, I suppose it will depend on whether an application form or the process demands you declare your sexuality or gender identity, in which case that's pretty intrusive and they should make clear that this info is required.

It is not legally possible to discriminate on the basis of sexuality and that includes heterosexuality.

It's better to go for Pansexual and Queer. No one can pull you up for those terms because they don't really mean anything, but they make you sound like you're 'on the right side of history'. You can also throw in non-binary to add weight to your 'identity'.

I saw a twitter thread this morning about how all "T*rfs" that protest they don't have a gender, are actually 'agender'. So, under the T umbrella.

VulvaPerson · 25/11/2020 14:09

You would likely actually come under the trans umbrella in some way, the huge majority of people do. Especially if you don't believe in gender woo. As that makes you a-gender, or possibly 'non binary' even though obviously the labels mean nothing if you do not subscribe to that particular religion.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/11/2020 14:23

Seriously, yes it would be wrong. It wouldn't be fundamentally different from a heterosexual male 'identifying' as a lesbian, would it?
And even though absolutely anyone can make a valid argument to be T or Q by stonewall etc definitions, it doesn't seem like something anyone with integrity would do IRL.

Hopefully a genuine lesbian woman or gay bloke will step up for it.

Surely you're non-binary (ie, not Barbie or GI Joe)? Or agender?

How fab it would be if you, a transgender person, were to focus attention on the Ls and the Gs and, as a transgender person, suggest the other trans, non-binary and queer people did so too.

I saw a twitter thread this morning about how all "Trfs" that protest they don't have a gender, are actually 'agender'.*

I'm tervengender, thank you very much. And everyone better respect my terven gender identity or else it's vagina dentata time?

One of these days I really need to get a twitter account and join in the silly buggers. Tervengender is clearly the most oppressedest.
