PSHE in schools

My dd started secondary in September. Today she’s come home and says they might be talking about transgender in the subject. Can you ask schools about their PSHE curriculum? She’s pretty certain in herself as we talk about what a woman is but I’d like to know what they plan to teach. I’d like to know as her gender non-conforming autistic sibling will be attending that high school next year.

Topped with the newsletter from my son’s specialist school about transgender awareness day.

Moirasrose are you in England? This fact sheet from the Safe Schools Alliance explains the law in England and that you are absolutely allowed to ask about the school’s PSHE curriculum. There are some other resources on the SSA website that might help you approach the school.

Yes, email and ask her tutor, or the head of PSHE if you know who they are!

I would advise you not to be fobbed off with an overview or policy document. Ask to see the lesson materials.

they also are covering pornography under ' addictions' looking at the harms and the exploitation aspects.
