just observations

  • 'people' seem to be mentioned more often than 'women'
  • gender - it's contentious atm but tge programme is a lot of 'be kind' and male orientated.

will stop listening when Jane Garvey stops presenting.

such a shame...

There was quite a bright shiny person on the other day and I rather liked her. JG and even JM just used to sound so miserable.

calllaaalllaaammma · 19/11/2020 13:36

Should call it "People's Hour" and have done with it.

pinkbalconyrailing · 09/12/2020 14:51

they have stopped putting the name of the presenter into the show notes in sounds...

Well last week a new presenter repeatedly called it "Women's Hour".

I was really trying to hold off any judgement but really, you should know the name of the programme you're presenting.

HotelliFinlandia · 09/12/2020 15:17

The episode with Dame Steve last week was great. It went on to discuss why women's toilets were important to women - why they were refuges. Single sex was even mentioned!!!

A woman who suffered discrimination based on sex and then women's loos and their importance to women. It was too much to be a coincidence. Smile

Yes, I've found that too, pinkbalcony. We don't know who they are and we are not allowed to know. Why have they stopped?

I looked at today's programme notes as I hadn't heard the programme and read this: "What’s the best way to approach shyness in your child? Nadia Finer joins Andrea to offer her advice."

Who's Andrea? Are we supposed to guess?

Well last week a new presenter repeatedly called it "Women's Hour".

I fucking hate it when anyone does that but a bbc employee? it's really disappointing.

Abitofalark · 14/12/2020 17:57

Does Woman's Hour read this sub-forum of mumsnet?

To my surprise, they've included the presenter's name in today's programme details:

"Presenter: Jane Garvey
Producer: Louise Corley
Editor: Beverley Purcell "

We are suitably grateful, I am sure. Of course we have no idea whether this has anything to do with comments here, any more than we know why it stopped in the first place and whether today is a one-off or whether they will do the same tomorrow and every day.

Does it vary according to how they are feeling on the day, who's doing the programme notes or which way the wind is blowing?

HollowTalk · 14/12/2020 18:01

They would have to be crazy not to read this forum! Any programme like that needs about 20 - 25 different things to talk about every week. Of course they'll be looking on here.

Mind you I was listening to Jane Garvey saying on Fortunately that she didn't understand Copy and Paste, so maybe she's not found her way here Grin

pinkbalconyrailing · 14/12/2020 18:02

I noticed that as well.
