Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

BBC has really outdone itself today

I don't know why I bother but occasionally I check the BBC News website for, you know, the news. Today we have:

  1. a one-sided article on 'sex work' (line: sex workers are suffering during lockdown, so we have to decriminalise sex work - bit of a non-sequitur, also there might just be a public health reason for not allowing prostitution at the moment??)

  2. A one-sided article on transgender issues featuring ONLY male people, namely three transwomen and a gay male journalist, Mark Gevisser, who has a new book out ("The Pink Line", comparing 'queer' struggles to the global colour line and racism!!) and who campaigns for self-ID, claiming it's best practice. No mention of any of the issues with self-ID, sports, prisons, no women interviewed ...

I suppose they had to balance the use of the word 'female' (VERBOTEN!) on the news home page. Sorry for the rant but I'm so tired of this blatant campaigning from our state broadcaster. Just give me the news ...

I am really fed up with the Beeb's constant mis-stating the Equality Law, promoting gender ideology to the kids - even though the Government has said that is not ok, constantly putting out biased articles with no balance.

It was only last year that they had the big issues around the Sex pay gap and many male presenters being paid significantly more than the females - all part of the misogyny.

I'm very very close to stopping paying for the licence fee over this issue with bias against women. Just need to wean the toddler off Sarah & Duck!

That’s just bizarre. Even the most conservative and the most woke sources usually include a female voice as a token gesture.

'saunas' ie brothels are still running in Edinburgh - no downturn in trade there! have tweeted Public Heath Scotland as I can't imagine socially distant prostitution but no reply so far.

OhHolyJesus · 17/11/2020 19:35

Please complain.

I have had one article amended and have escalated complaints in the pipeline.

That or reconsider your license fee.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 17/11/2020 19:37

Today has been particularly wokey on twitter too (bank of England, twitter ‘women’...). Must be something in the air...

FrenchtoEnglish · 17/11/2020 19:44

I wonder if they're using barge poles. These women wouldn't touch their "clients" with one in real life... but they could put them to good use now and blame covid. Barge poles up the arse for the lot of the dirty, useless pricks.

Duckwit · 17/11/2020 19:58

Do you have links, I can't find the articles? I am particularly interested in the one about transgender issues where only transwomen are featured, as I have been thinking about the sex discrepancy in 'trans achievements' and exposure of trans people that I have noticed recently.

Duckwit probably this load of

Will they pay transmen the same as men?
My guess is not.

Binglebong · 17/11/2020 21:55

@AvocadoBathroom

Will they pay transmen the same as men? My guess is not.
No, but they'll use them to point out "Look! Men aren't all paid more than pesky women! And Steve Stephanie is doing really well after getting to the top of the company then revealling her true self!"

Even on the Bitesize revision page for modern studies higher!
If you dont get 'em in primary make sure the teenagers are indoctrinated.

SerendipityJane · 18/11/2020 10:01

Think they're bad ?

Wait a few days for one of their "isn't it great being disabled" puff pieces that makes it sound like we should all be getting fitted for wheelchairs.

It's hard to describe quite how shit you can be made to feel as you are struggling to claim ESA or PIP and you browse past these "stories" that ignore all of that and show people who mysteriously get about with no problems in kit that costs tens - if not hundreds - of thousands of pounds.

dayoftheclownfish · 20/11/2020 14:04

Seems the BBC has been continuing in the same vein with an article (on funding for LGBT anti-bullying campaigns) that even the government equalities office has stated is misleading:

That BBC article about trans remembrance day say there have been more murders of trans people this year than last - without comparing the figures to the number of trans people there actually are. The number of trans people is rising very fast but the murder rate had only gone up a bit, but of course it was presented as evidence of terrible persecution.

Of course any murder of anyone is awful, not questioning that, but that was a pretty major twisting of stats.

Well that’s on let for ‘More or Less’ Isn’t it?
