Encouragement - talking to school really works!

Had a brief meeting with some of leadership team at school and they really get it!

I sent them the links to new government guidance and the Safer School's Alliance breakdown and they postponed a staff training session to look into it. They did some research and are now dropping one of the outside agencies they are using for RSE.

I had no idea parents had so much power to change things! Keep on keeping on! Smile

And [heart] to all the teachers out there dealing with this.

Fantastic work!! You took a bold step and you've given them an opportunity to rethink their training session. Keep an eye on whatever new plans they come up with - other things might inadvertently slip through.

I don't know if there's heart emotions available on the Mumsnet text editor. I use the icons from my phone keyboard.

Sometimes I think that these seemingly small actions we take have more effect on others views. If others have never heard an alternative position nothing will change . Small discussions can change things at a local level. Congratulations. However, having said that, I think that however much people tell me to believe black is white, men are women and that god exists, I don’t imagine I will ever convert.

Attawomble! Excellent work.

Thanks all! I wasn't finishing for compliments, honest! Just surprised how easy it was to have an influence.

The teachers I spoke to had heard of things in the news and were trying not to be political but at the same time saying "well, obviously, women need single sex spaces".

I think it's the drip drip drip effect.

Well done ShoppingWomble - and thank you for sharing this.

Stonewall and other adult lobby groups have targeted schools in a major way with the 'transphobe' threat so it's not surprising that schools have little idea that the rest of the world has major reservations about girls undressing in front of boys, the loss of women's sport, sex based rights and the rest. Every parent who lets a school know that the above are problems - especially for girls - does every child a huge favour.
