Pretty please can we make a list of current consultations etc to do? (UK mainly)

I'm sure there are several different UK consultations and surveys around at the moment that I meant to do, but I am knackered and haven't managed to keep track of all of them, where they are and when they have to be completed by. So far I think we have:

  • England and Wales hate crime consultation, due sometime in Dec I think but I can't remember much more than that

I have a feeling there are some Scottish ones I have temporarily forgotten too (am in England but have links/travel to Scotland so plan to do those too where allowed). Also possibly something else police-related, but I can't remember for sure...

I thought it would be helpful to me and maybe other people too if we could put them all together in a thread (unless there's one already, but I've not seen one). So if you have any more details on the above, and/or any others that I've missed, it would be great if you can post them below (with closing date and link to the consultation if possible). We can also add links to guidance created for them (e.g. by SSAUK, FPFW etc) if people have them.

I've focused on UK ones because that's where I am, but if there are ones for other countries too I don't have any objections to them being added as well, as long as it's clear which country they are for (or who is allowed to contribute, if different).

Thank you! Flowers

Hi ahagwearsapointybonnet, some of us have tried to collate all the info here -
womenspeakscotland.com/

There is a list of consultations on the home page.

We will update the crowdfunder document soon with some of the newest ones.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 09/11/2020 23:10

Brilliant, thanks Nonny!

Yes, thankfully we've got some time before having to deal with it.

There's also a calendar widget at the bottom of the home page that shows various events and highlights the deadlines for consultations so can visualise what's coming up. There's quite a few!

Was trying to get my list together yesterday. So much going on but that's probably a good thing

ArabellaScott · 10/11/2020 09:03

Great resource, ta Nonny.

Here's the latest consultation from the Scottish Govt:

'Have Your Say
November-December Spotlight – Mental Health

Every two months we put the Spotlight on a different gender equality issue. In November-December 2020 the Spotlight is Mental Health. We’d like to hear from individuals and groups from all communities across Scotland about their experiences and ideas around this topic.

Q1. In Scotland, what are the biggest equality issues for women and girls in relation to mental health?

Q2. In Scotland what needs to change to support mental health and improve gender equality for women and girls?

Q3. What actions should the NACWG recommend to improve gender equality for women and girls in relation to mental health?

Placemarking. Thanks OP, I'm losing track too after a few too many broken nights sleep with the kids recently.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 12/11/2020 15:14

Glad I'm not the only one struggling to keep track! Grin

Reminder that there are not many days left before the let's-all-rerun-the-GRA-consultation closes, if you've not already done it. (That includes me so I need to get on it today!)

Bump

NonnyMouse1337 · 19/11/2020 12:22

Thanks for the reminder. I'll need to set aside time for it this weekend.

There's a list of links to help with writing the submissions in the post below. The ReSistersUnited one is really good with a step-by-step explanation of putting together a submission.

That calendar thing on the website is very useful. Will bookmark a link to use it as my personal activism diary!

ArabellaScott · 19/11/2020 18:16

Thanks for the bump. I have a bit of a horrible feeling about this one, think that's why I'm putting it off.will do it this weekend. Women's place has guidelines, I think?

ArabellaScott · 19/11/2020 18:17

I have clicked- that website is a wonder, thanks Nonny!

WarOnWomen · 19/11/2020 19:09

Thanks OP. Yes, will get on with the GRA one. And thanks Nonny for the link.

SmallPug · 19/11/2020 19:24

Yes Woman’s Place has guidance. Has anyone filled it out yet (the GRA rerun)? Wondering how long it’ll take.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 19/11/2020 21:10

I finished my response to the WEC and sent it off last night. Please do send something in, you don't have to respond to every point, just the ones you feel most strongly about. I do hope that transwidows will tell their stories. I am sure their perspective will be completely new to the committee.

happydappy2 · 20/11/2020 17:22

Have done the GRA one-deadline coming up-thanks for the reminder

This Lords Committee one is new: highly relevant:
committees.parliament.uk/committee/170/communications-and-digital-committee/news/127782/freedom-of-expression-online--new-inquiry-launch/

The Communications and Digital Committee launches a new inquiry into how the right to freedom of expression should be protected online and how it should be balanced with other rights.

Other questions posed by the committee include:

How should good digital citizenship be promoted?
Should online platforms be under a legal duty to protect freedom of expression?
To what extent should users be allowed anonymity online?
How can content moderation systems be improved?
Would strengthening competition regulation of dominant online platforms help to make them more responsive to users’ views about content and moderation?
The committee invites written contributions to its inquiry by Friday 15 January 2021.
