This line from a recent Pink News article is so unbelievably disingenuous and manipulative. This quote is from the staff on the site, not from anyone else, just to be clear:

"Her inclusion on the all-women shortlist has offended SNP members who are opposed to trans rights."

I'm not opposed to trans rights as a simplistic concept. I'm opposed to legislation and bullying that compromises the safety and rights of girls and women.

I don't think a transwoman can be a womens officer. I really do wonder what kind of drugs central SNP are on... I cannot CANNOT get my head around the way they are behaving.

If I am not mistaken, Mridal was the one who deliberately witheld the fact that they are a transwoman to get the job at a rape crisis centre, knowing full well that the post was stipulating that it was for female candidates only?
The fact that this person is potentially a women's officer shows how nasty and disingenuous the SNP are.

Fascinated to see how this women's officer intends to speak for and represent the lived experience of the 99% of the women's population born female .And why someone born male was felt to be an appropriate person to fill a post intended to aid the imbalance and loss of the voices and lived experience of people born female in politics beneath the much more powerful voices and lived experience of people born male.

There have been (not trans) men in these posts before.

All it will have taken is for one local member to nominate them and another to second that and if there was no one else wanting to do it they get the post.

No one else other than those branch members at the meeting get to decide so it’s not a reflection on the whole party.

There are issues with woke vs non woke in all parties atm.

I don’t think that’s true. When big Lily got made a WO for labour I’m sure some digging around was done and the requirement was that they were a woman.

Whether it varies by party I’m not sure.

It says in this article that the labour rules require the position be held by a woman. Labour however allow anyone who fancies it to self ID as a woman so a fairly pointless stipulation.
