Apparently the women in Poland who are protesting about the awful abortion laws are 'people with vaginas'....

@DidoLamenting

One of the potential silver linings of COVID-19 was that the Vagina Museum looked as if it might go bust but sadly not.
Where the fuxk are they getting money from???

And "Polish people with vaginas". Fuck off to the far side of fuck off, Vagina Museum.

SunsetBeetch · 03/11/2020 09:45

I'm very fucking angry and sweary today. Both at the situation in Poland, and at these pathetic tweets by a so-called Vagina Museum. Seriously FUCK OFF.

That article, HPFA - I feel dizzy. Also, this:

"Like many trans women don’t use tampons in order to enhance our lived experience."

That's them sticking it up their bum or stealing used ones from bins, isn't it? In plain sight.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 03/11/2020 09:58

You know what, Purple, it really was. I hadn't recognised it at the time, but, yes, I was bored.

There was no humour or outrage - it was a bit like a high school project. I'm surprised, their director is a science communicator and I expected something engaging.

Oh well, maybe I'm not their target market

The Foundling Museum and Museum of Brands on the other hand are examples of smaller museums who do manage to get it right.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 03/11/2020 10:52

Oooooh, I'll go to those, thanks, Purple!

Yes I’m trying to keep away from twitter today because of these twits barking nonsense to the the Twitterati. Sigh.

I went to the Vagina museum last year (pre-Covid, feels like a different lifetime now!) and yes, sorry waste of space. They had plain mistakes on their boards too - I remember one on breastfeeding and contraception.

They also seem to be very confused on what is a vagina as opposed to what is a vulva.

Pretty poor show tbh. When there would be so much to say about what different societies think about menstruation or menopause, basic education (it's a vulva! not a vagina!), common-but-underdiagnosed conditions like endometriosis or PCOS, things to look out for when you're a woman (ectopic pregnancies, ovarian cancer etc), when and how often to do a smear test, menstrual art, basic education around early pregnancy (it's an embryo not a foetus much less a baby, abortion "kills" something the size of a grain of rice), etc etc.

Instead they had a giant tampon, lots of boards saying men can totally be women and a pair of knickers discoloured at the crotch.... to each their own, to each their own.

They are in no way speaking for women or indeed feminism.

Is that their reason to exist then? Just to announce that not only women have periods? Wow who foots the bill!!

PurpleHoodie · 03/11/2020 17:56

Not sure ThatIs.

But the taxman might want to know.
