Hi Mumsnet,
just visiting to let you know that after being cancelled TWICE this year, I have now published my own cartoon review of " 2020, The Year We Were All Cancelled "!
It's an A4, Landscape, full colour paperback.
It's on Amazon for pre- order, with publishing date - 5 November.
Here's the link:
www.amazon.co.uk/2020-Cancelled-Political-Cartoonist-Strangest/dp/1527271439?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Or you can just search Amazon books by the title!
By the end of November it will be available via hundreds of other retailers worldwide, including;: Foyles, Waterstones, Blackwell, Book Depository. Some of them will be selling it cheaper.
Why not get it as a Chrissie present for " The Snowflake in your life"?!

To see more of my artwork, please visit my website: www.spanglefish.com/stellaillustrator

Solidarity!
Stella, " Britain's Most Cancelled Political Cartoonist 2020"!

Thanks, Stella - we have a thread somewhere of suitable Christmas presents for GC feminists, which is largely made up of works by people who have been cancelled for one reason or another this year (JK Rowling, Amanda Craig, Gillian Philip etc). So we should add your book to that thread.

And just a reminder to people that you can also see Stella's work on Uncancelled: www.uncancelled.co.uk/

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 30/10/2020 14:04

Thank you Stella. Do you think it will be possible to order it from my local indie bookseller?

SunsetScreech · 30/10/2020 14:19

Oh briliant! Thanks Stella.

Hope you are doing well.

PurpleHoodie · 30/10/2020 14:23

Thanks, Stella.

There is a "What to buy GC feminist for Christmas" thread further down.

TweeBree · 30/10/2020 14:30

Congrats! Adding it to my Christmas wish list.

Hi everyone, yes, most bookshops should be able to order it after another 3-4 weeks.
My cartoon that got me cancelled from the Morning Star back in February, was banned AGAIN! Penguin Books lawyers refused to allow it into Tim Benson's annual political cartoon anthology, against his wishes!

Royalcorgi, Thanks for referencing uncancelled.co.uk- I have a Halloween cartoon going up on there tomorrow which I hope you will like!

And can you add my book to that thread like you've said? I am IT incompetent! Many thanks!

It's ok, I managed to add it to your Christmas list thread!

HecatesCats · 30/10/2020 18:54

Thanks Stella Thanks

@StellaCartoonist I had a look at your website. The work is wonderful and gave me a much needed laugh. I wondered if you have considered a calendar. I would have it in my office :) In the unlikely event that all our problems will vanish in 2021, it would still be a historic memento. In the more likely scenario that there are battles to fight it would be a useful support.

PurpleHoodie · 30/10/2020 20:30

A calendar would be a great idea.

Maybe do a small/medium limited edition print run first.

StellaCartoonist · 31/10/2020 05:36

Hi, PurpleHoodie, I'm afraid producing this book was traumatic enough for me! Also, I don't want to get into storing/ selling stock from my house.
And with the Covid Lockdowns, all the normal outlets for selling home made stuff, like street markets, aren't taking place. Local bookshops are closed so you cant even offer sale or return. And I dont have the IT know how to sell things over the internet!

But if you do, if you want to do it, you are welcome to grab 12 suitable images from my website ( they would have to be ones which will also be relevant next year!) and turn them into a calendar if you like, and share the profits, you can contact me on: [email protected].

My skills are not up to producing that Stella, however I have very close friends and acquaintances who are very much in the "book production and showbiz" loop who I can call upon.

I'll start making enquiries x

StellaCartoonist · 02/11/2020 10:41

Purple Hoodie, No problem, I will be happy to talk to them. I can pick out 12 images I think will still be ok for next year & email over as pdfs or jpegs. I know there are a few ' design your own calendar' online companies around, that produce and ship them to order. So by all means put me in touch with any pal of yours who might be interested. The cartoons will be non- controversial! So maybe suitable for all of Mumsnet, not just Feminist chat?

OP posts:
PurpleHoodie · 02/11/2020 12:47

I'll get in touch with them and DM you after (I'm hopelessly pedestrian compared to their jazzy work/lifestyles. Sort of)

Either way. Your work needs to reach a wider audience Star

JoodyBlue · 02/11/2020 13:26

Yay! I will buy:)

StellaCartoonist · 02/11/2020 15:39

So at the moment my book is on Amazon at: www.amazon.co.uk/2020-Cancelled-Political-Cartoonist-Strangest/dp/1527271439?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
But it will be cheaper on other outlets in about 3 weeks time ( Waterstones, Foules, Blackwell, Book Depository) so check them out!

Hi everyone, my book currently has more reviews than buyers, ha ha! Its been reviewed by uncancelled.co.uk, faircop.org.uk, Glinner ( in his War on Women round up, week 1-8 November) and this lovely, very personal review, by Maria at PeakTrans:
www.peaktrans.org/cancelled-cartoonist-has-produced-a-book-2020-the-year-we-were-all-cancelled/
Feel free to share this review if you are kindly encouraging other people to buy it for Christmas, thanks!
