List of court cases relating to women's rights / self ID / medical transition etc

I saw a list somewhere of all the court cases underway at the moment but am wracking my brains and can't remember where I saw it.

From memory there's:

  • Maya's case - employment tribunal
  • For Women Scot - JR: Scottish Government's redefining the word woman
  • Ann Sinnott - JR: Official sources providing unlawful guidance on the 2010 Equality Act
  • Keira Bell - JR: GIDS using experimental treatments on kids and young people
  • Safer Schools Alliance - JR: CPS
  • Fair Cop - JR: hate crime guidance
  • Anon prisoner - JR: Trans prison guidance
  • James Caspian - University (Bristol?)
  • Jennifer James - Labour Party

I'm sure the list had a couple more I haven't remembered, though, and also a status report on each.

Does anyone know where I can find it?

Or, do you know of any cases I missed? Thanks

The Jennifer James Update, according to the document on WSS:

Jan 20 - case for Judicial Review filed against Labour Party,
Mar 20 – Judicial Review transferred to Manchester, awaiting date (and then Covid-19 hit…)
Outcome : Awaiting scheduling of Judicial Review in Manchester High Court

The ones I forgot: that are currently active:

  • Raquel Rosario Sánchez - Bullying and Harassment Permitted by Bristol University
  • Allison Bailey - I Am Suing Stonewall To Stop Them Policing Free Speech
  • Sonia Appleby - Safeguarding Concerns at Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS)

And, already won:

  • Rachel Ara - Fight for Academic Freedom of Speech to discuss Sex and Gender
  • Victoria Edwards (and daughter and teacher) - Help Me Challenge Damaging Transgender Schools Guidance In Oxfordshire

Apologies for the delay in getting an updated version of all the court cases up. There were lots of developments and changes in the past few weeks so the document was in a constant state of flux.

Here is the latest summary of all the cases to date.

We also have a glossary of frequent terms used, if that might be helpful to anyone, especially if you're relatively new to all of these issues.

We have a Twitter account now as well.

Bloody great work there Nonny

Kate Scottow won her appeal last week so that could go on the 'won' list - though it was a civil case wasn't it? Do ignore if it relevant. Really good to keep track of all this!

NonnyMouse1337 · 14/12/2020 12:44

Thanks OHJ - the crowdfunding summary and glossary is the hard work of one woman - and it's not me! She does a great job of pulling it all together.

Good point about the Scottow verdict. Might be worth adding to the list. Smile

Really useful summary - great to have it all together in one place and easy to read too! Thank you!

So much going on and some significant wins. 2021 is going to be busy.

That's excellent work NonnyMouse1337, please pass on our thanks.

Here's the most recent news on the Jennifer James case:

Thank you for that nauticant. Will pass on the Twitter link and appreciation.

Great to have the full list in one place. Just gone down the list and thrown another £10 into each case (being careful to edit the CrowdJustice ‘voluntary’ contribution to 0 each time). Annoying that women have to fund all of this but I honestly think it’s the most effective form of activism we can do right now.

Is the PDF still in existence? It’s very useful but disappeared from the link

Sorry, I haven't quite worked out a way to have a static URL that links to a file that is regularly updated. I've removed older versions so people don't reference outdated news.

There's a new version I'm going to upload shortly and I will post the link to it here when it's ready. Smile

Crowdfunding Summary PDF has been updated (6 Feb 2021).

You can always find the latest document by using the link below and then clicking on the download button. Please discard the older URLs as they won't work anymore.

There's also a section for general issues that don't fit in the above document.
