That can't be true! Are nappies and tenalady banned as well?

yourhairiswinterfire · 26/10/2020 10:37

What the actual fuck?

StealthPolarBear · 26/10/2020 10:38

Someone has to explain the logic. I wonder if this is tesco or the government

LunarPhase · 26/10/2020 10:39

😮😮😮 Unbelievable!!

Whatwouldscullydo · 26/10/2020 10:39

Is there an update on this as the page underneath no longer exists

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 26/10/2020 10:40

Oooo, they've just deleted that tweet....that was fast (ish) work!?

Wtf....

yourhairiswinterfire · 26/10/2020 10:40

Just because they may not have seen the word woman on anything in a while, doesn't mean we've fucking disappeared Hmm

WhatNameToChooseNow · 26/10/2020 10:42

Email this man.

HomerRoberts · 26/10/2020 10:43

If true, I’m pretty sure this will be due to dimwits at Tesco rather than any government directive.

ReadySteadyBed · 26/10/2020 10:44

Someone has to explain the logic

There is no logic! What a bunch of dumb wits

WhatNameToChooseNow · 26/10/2020 10:45

He's the Welsh health minister

bellinisurge · 26/10/2020 10:46

If this shit carried on I'd go and free bleed outside the Senned.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 26/10/2020 10:46

Oh ok, this may be the fault of someone on auto pilot responding and not actually reading what the queried item was! Hopefully!

That doesn't explain the pictures posted of the Aisles fenced off though...

Hardbackwriter · 26/10/2020 10:49

I suspect that the shop made this (terrible) call because they're in an aisle of otherwise 'non-essential items' and they shut the whole thing off. It's just bonkers though - I can't even begin to see the logic of making specific items unavailable in a shop that is otherwise open, and what that does to reduce viral spread

ErrolTheDragon · 26/10/2020 10:49

@averylongtimeago

And loo roll, tissues ... hoe about soap and hand gel? If their 'logic' is that supermarkets shouldn't sell items normally also available from Boots etc , as I can't imagine what else it was.Confused

Hopefully a misunderstanding rather than an explicit exclusion but it would be good to know wtf happened.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 26/10/2020 10:50

True, and there was toothpaste in that aisle too!

Someone else ClaireLotsOfNumbers has also tweeted similar 3 mins ago.

Tesco have barriers off whole aisles.

ISaySteadyOn · 26/10/2020 10:52

Well, I mean, we're only women. We're not essential either are we?Hmm

PurpleHoodie · 26/10/2020 10:52

Barriered

StealthPolarBear · 26/10/2020 10:52

Well we don't need teeth, they're not essential. Plenty of people eat mashed food only.

InFlagranteDerelicto · 26/10/2020 10:53

Apparently the Welsh Government have clarified that any goods that can be sold in a pharmacy, can still be sold. Pity no-one at Tesco applied a bit of common sense though. Perhaps they think periods are optional, something women can identify as having, or not, as the whim takes them.

Mummyoflittledragon · 26/10/2020 10:53

Phew I see it was a mistake. But highly highly embarrassing for Tesco to have done this in the first instance. Sounds as if a man took the decision as obviously we can just wait until we go the loo instead of lazily bleeding in our underwear.

Hardbackwriter · 26/10/2020 10:54

Just seen the photo and it's even more baffling because there are clearly loads of other essential items there. I'm still guessing that it was about what was on the other side of the aisle (the make-up or something like that?) but you'd have to be properly stupid to think that you were really meant to shut off sanitary towels and toothpaste even if you had been told not to sell make-up
