Reported as woman — resource thread

Inspired by the "It will never happen" resource thread, I think it would be useful to keep track of news reports (particularly relating to crimes) where it is not mentioned that the subject of the report is actually male.

It's easy to be misled — especially where there is no photo included — and that can make it difficult to relocate these articles later on. I've also found that the situation with regards to crime reporting is one of the things that really makes normal, reasonable people sit up and say "what? No, that's got to be a joke?!!" It would be good to have plenty of examples to hand to hammer the point home, and hopefully alert more people to what's going on.

There was also the one who had reverted to male clothing/appearance, but was described by police as "a woman who may be dressed as a man" or something, but I can't remember enough details to find links atm...

Former PCSO bomb maker in the Daily Mail and The Sun.

I know Fair Play For Women have complained to ipso about this one, so there may be a chance that the articles will be edited.

ahagwearsapointybonnet I think that was Craig/Lisa Hauxwell, who was living as a man when arrested in Newark.

"Hauxwell was convicted of two rapes and seven indecent assaults, which were truly horrendous crimes.''

transcrimeuk.com/

I expect many of these were misreported.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/10/2020 23:17

Yes and some TWAW female academic wrote a Telegraph article about "women" committing more crimes which was illustrated with a picture of Hauxwell.

If you read about a 'female' sex-offender in the newspaper you need to be confident that really is their birth sex. Fair Play For Women are lobbying IPSO, the UK’s main media watchdog and policy makers about this issue.

Thanks for the link find.

StandUpStraight · 23/10/2020 07:35

This misreporting enrages me. I have heard TRAs say things along the lines of “women commit sexual offences too, why are you so worried about having ‘male bodies’ in your spaces”. And of course, if the crimes have been recorded by the police as crimes committed by women on the perpetrator’s say so (which I believe they have been for some years now) and reported by the media as such, that all helps the narrative. Just like recording tweets as hate incidents the minute they are reported, no debate allowed, helps the narrative that trans people are the most discriminated and hated people in the country.

Have dug for FPFW - thanks for the link, find.

Clymene · 23/10/2020 07:57

@FindTheTruth Thanks. I think it's Important to share the MSM reporting because this is what the IPSO guidelines have led to - that media must refer to a man as a woman if he says so. No matter what monstrous crimes is charged with, if he says so. This is gaslighting and lying on a mass scale. The media is being controlled by men who have committed the most egregious crimes. What a sense of power that must give them!

If other women missed this when it was first created, this video is worth a watch.

i would love it if someone would ask a question about the IPSO guidelines on BBC 1 question time . And if only it was covered in BBC Radio 4 woman's hour - but the BBC is captured by TWAW #nodebate #acceptance without exception, so this important issue isn't aired in public. there is hope. and I hope others visiting this thread will help too. you can help here and here.

If FPFW are successful with their IPSO campaign, the media will a) report that this has been happening and b) start reporting crimes by males as crimes by males. And who knows perhaps even Womans hour will cover it... won't hold by breath.
www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/blackpool-woman-accessed-sick-child-18593766
The BBC did that, too: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-53410019

Headline: Blackpool woman accessed child abuse images in hospital bed"

I think the media outlets think there's safety in numbers when they're misreporting. Here, both Lancs Live and the Beeb misreported but also both used one/ more pictures... as though that gives them a free pass to flout "guidelines" without actually having to have the guts to challenge them on public interest grounds.
