"Mridul Wadhwa, a trans rights activist who has no gender recognition certificate, appeared at a Stirling hustings, prompting allegations that SNP headquarters was ruling “by diktat” and had broken the Sex Discrimination (Election Candidates) Act, 2002, designed to promote all-women shortlists."

Also links to the FWS Judicial Review:
"The SNP government already faces a legal challenge amid growing anger that a man who identifies as a member of the opposite sex will be legally recognised as a woman under the Gender Representation on Public Boards (Scotland) Act 2018.

For Women Scotland, the campaign group granted a judicial review of the 2018 legislation, said the Stirling case showed the SNP was “playing fast and loose with women’s rights and the very definition of what it is to be a woman”."

Afraid I don't have share token!

For the record, Edinburgh Central is not AWS, so I think MW is perfectly entitled to try there (up against Angus Robertson and Marco Biaggi, I think, so unlikely to get the nomination).

Ahhhh, that explains why Marco Biaggi is now pretending to 'listen to both sides', to try and take the women's vote from the two pro-GRA candidates despite having called us bigots last year

They're deleting an awful lot of comments. I had 2 deleted for mentioning this person runs a rape crisis centre after getting the job under false pretences.

I missed that! I'm Edinburgh Central and am not indy/snp but I would have supported Joanna Cherry (in fact I would have chapped doors for her!)

If the SNP options are men who support GRA openly or men who obfuscate, I will back whoever is most likely to beat them.

Article's updated today saying FWS have written to the SNP to point out a candidate on the AWS is legally male and threatening legal action.

Sillydoggy · 23/10/2020 14:29

Times article about the legal challenge. FWS are busy at the moment how about getting the spades out!

It appears there is more skulduggery in Stirling where Alyn Smith, the MP, has written to the SNP membership in a manner which seems to deliberately target Sameeha Rehman who has been backed by the Woman's Pledge. All because the sensible women isn't enthusiastically responding his offer to share an office!

Smith's BF was involved in some nasty online comments about Joan McAlpine.
