Facemasks on for a trip to the Bluestocking

We haven't had a Bluestocking thread for fucking ages.

Anyone fancy a socially distanced, tables of no more than 6, Bluestocking?

The goat has been covid tested and the patriarchy busting canon polished up to remove all possible virus traces from its surface.

Remember, MN spans the globe, and it's always before the 10pm curfew somewhere.

Congratulations, R0! Glad for your good news.

ArabellaScott · 20/04/2021 10:12
  • er, sorry, missed the last post - not congratulations on the badger culling. At all.

Congratulations on your celebrations.

QuentinBunbury · 20/04/2021 10:14

Omg could properly murder a bacon sandwich in granary with butter and ketchup.
In real life just ate a slice of toast with peanut butter and morrisons white chocolate and hazelnut spread. It was disappointing. Now trying to decide if its a two cups of coffee morning.
It's a gorgeous day here, the birds are singing.

RabbitOfCaerbannog · 20/04/2021 10:55

Two cups down here BrewBrew. May have been a mistake - but the dog had me up twice in the night so I'm struggling. Very pleased that today is a good day for you R0 Thanks

LostToucan · 20/04/2021 11:05

Sadly there are lots of dead badgers on our local roads at the moment - I do hope that badger numbers are holding up.

ArabellaScott · 20/04/2021 11:16

I try to reframe roadkill as a sign that at least there are creatures about to be offed by cars. Sad

WarriorN · 20/04/2021 12:08

Raises a glass of plum gin to all badgers and bunbury.

🦡 Gin

Sophoclesthefox · 20/04/2021 12:41

Day drinking in the Bluestocking! You’re all every bit the scourge on society that you’re reputed to be Grin

I can’t be arsed at the moment. Finding it difficult to be bothered wading through the distracting chaff to get to the wheat of actual feminist discussion, which is a bit disheartening on a feminism board.

Badger milk latte for me, please, with a side of nameless ennui.

ArabellaScott · 20/04/2021 12:48

If we're theoretically day-drinking I'm taking up smoking again. 20 malborough full-strength, please, barkeep, and what does the jukebox take?

RabbitOfCaerbannog · 20/04/2021 15:01

Might cadge one off you Arabella, but not sure I'm hardcore enough to go straight back onto Marlborough Reds. I'll have a bourbon though if there's any going spare...

PotholeHellhole · 20/04/2021 15:14

Another pepsi please. No, not diet!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 20/04/2021 15:35

I see the cherries didn't survive my absence. It's as well I cleared the metaphorical shelf when I saw a recent offer on them. (There may be people who question why anyone buys 20+ jars of Luxardo - I am not among those people who lack understanding on such crucial issues.)

Congratulations for whatever it is, R0

highame · 20/04/2021 16:13

One for me too Arabella have been having the odd craving recently and a virtual fag might sort me out

ArabellaScott · 20/04/2021 16:31

A virtual fag is the only kind I could actually smoke these days, highame - last one I had was so utterly disappointing, and gave me palpitations. Not very rock and roll these days. Sad

highame · 20/04/2021 16:35

I think I'm going to start smoking again when I'm 80 and hope I don't get palpitations Grin. Trouble is, I really hate the smell now so have no idea why I get the odd craving.

ArabellaScott · 20/04/2021 16:40

Old habits die hard! I had nightmares that I'd started again, couldn't actually risk re-igniting the addiction. Plus yes, they taste bloody horrible. I like the smell, though ...

[quote R0wantrees]I was recently reading about the new wave of badger culling,

“Killing badgers on this scale could push this vulnerable species to the verge of local extinction in areas of England which it has inhabited since the Ice Age.”

I`ve been calling the government "badger murderers" for ages. One of my favourite animals - we had a glove puppet one that used to sing my daughter to sleep.

I don’t know enough about culling

I know badger baiting is illegal and only scummy halfwits take part in such things

R0wantrees · 20/04/2021 18:26

Very true.
Where I grew up we called them Brock and were always delighted to catch a glimpse of them.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 20/04/2021 18:48

A friend of mine got chased by one when she was on a bicycle

But they are gorgeous looking creatures

Bordois · 20/04/2021 18:53

Oooh, there's been a few barrels of salty tears delivered today if anyone wants to partake 😏🍸

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 20/04/2021 20:24

Felt a name change was in order

🦡 💨

persistentwoman · 20/04/2021 20:27

Settles in for a second evening of good company and badger related information. Wine for anyone?

Sophoclesthefox · 20/04/2021 20:27

I’ve stocked up the bar with imaginary Veuve Cliquot if anyone feels like celebrating anything?

Nosecco available for those who don’t partake.

Prost! Santé! Slaínte!

Sophoclesthefox · 20/04/2021 20:28

Well played Rufus Grin
