Pink news views on RFU decision

Pink News article about the RFU policy popped up on my FB feed. The comments were all along the lines of ‘Woman who play Rugby don’t need feminists to stick up for them, they are very big and strong and any man would be terrified playing against them etc etc’ it was more full of stereotypes than the DM comments.

I just can’t take the lack of critical thought any more and the way social media encourages people to reenforce each other’s utter bollocks. No one on that thread was willing to point out the perfectly obvious fact and males are stronger than females. Ffs it makes me so frustrated. Why are we all so stupid now? What has social media done to us?

I read a thread somewhere, maybe Twitter but could be wrong, that said sportswomen actually do need others to speak up for them, because they risk losing their sponsors if they do so themselves. Wish I'd bookmarked it, I'm not too clued up, but the general vibe was that their hands are tied.

I can't believe how dumb people are being on this. It's not someone's gender identity that crashes in to other players. It's not their gender identity that's going to be punching someone full force in the face, and it's not ones gender identity that's going to outsprint women who've dedicated their lives to training for feck all if they're up against a male. It's their bodies, their biology. Can't escape it. Hard to swallow because it ruins the mantra, but everyone with an ounce of common sense and respect for women knows it.

Wasn't it the concerns of 'Women who play' Rugby and their coaches that kicked off the whole World Rugby trans guidelines review in the first place? I'm sure I read that somewhere.

It’s Pink News - ignore it. Focus on who matters - the general public.

There is no general support for transwomen in women’s sport outside of student union bubbles. Sporting bodies need to know the general public rejects this.

There is no sport without sports fans.
