Dr Jane Harris Twitter account is suspended

Seemingly permanently - essentially for saying that it's not hatred to say that biological sex is real and that focussing on 'gender assigned at birth' notions is not all that helpful during a pandemic.

Jane's account is one of the most polite and thoughtful I've seen, and she has been instrumental in generating support from people who care about free speech for JK Rowling (she was one of the original signatories of the recent letter defending her, which was opened up to the public and now has more than 20,000 signatures).

Social media censorship of gender critical accounts has reached new levels of extremism in the last few days.

@ripx4nutmeg

My account is currently suspended, although everyone can see it. The suspension is due to end tomorrow. The tweet that got me suspended was tame under any definition (I said I don't think Marci Bowers has the best interests of their patients at heart if 80-90% of their phalloplasties result in 'complications') but this feels particularly sinister given the abuse aimed at women at the same time, including McKinnon retweeting images mocking Magdalen Berns for dying, which was posted at almost exactly the same time.

On top of that I initially was allowed to direct message people during the suspension, but that was removed after 36 hours. Facebook at the same time also censored me the moment I started following gender critical pages (Posie Parker has also had her account on Facebook locked until, I think, after the US election for no sane reason).

howard97a - I meant Twitter 'liberally censors people' with liberally's other definition of 'greatly'. A very clever pun which clearly didn't work ☺️

what? on facebook too? I'm afraid we do need legal cases to make some head way with these orgs

I set up a new account on Facebook, which was fine. Then I started following gender critical pages - within seconds the account was suspended and they wanted to see ID before it would be reinstated (ironic that Facebook demands that its users respect self ID but it only accepts official ID). I sent my birth certificate and all I got was a message back saying 'you need to send ID and your account will remain locked until you do'.

There is no doubt that there is a social media censorship campaign going on at the moment. I hope it will end after the US election. I hope Jane Harris is reinstated then

Why would it end after the US election? The Republicans aren't doing it. It the woke left. I think it'll get worse when the Democrats win.

What can be done to challenge Twitter? Or Facebook? The cesspools that freely allows MAPs to operate freely and unchallenged, misogynists are also given free reign, the bullying and docking of women in the main, but of anyone challenging the prevailing ideology politics, is discreetly encouraged by Twitter HQ doing absolutely nothing.

Boycott them? Would that work? An investigation into both Twitter and Facebook by The Times or Speccie?
In time Twitter will eat itself but can we wait that long?

I just saw this on Glinner's site. Jane and you Nutmeg are two of the best accounts on Twitter. I was banned last year thanks to that Arthur Chu person, but went back on for a while until I just had enough. The way women are treated for defending our rights compared to the revolting men who spew unspeakable abuse is nothing short of evil.

Yep. Men making rape and death threats are merrily posting away, while women simply arguing for the full humanity of our sex are silenced.

I just followed you on Twitter, nutmeg. I've been a FB friend of Jane's for years.
