I think it is a bit of a reminder just where women were starting from in 1971 - well for a start being referred to as ladies.
If you can get through it the last question from the floor about Norman Mailer saying something like you need balls to write & being asked - well which colour do you need to dip them in. 
I said to Ds - now do you understand why I don't lightly give up the name woman in favour of something I am told I should be. He agreed.
