I've emailed their insurers to find out their stance on this.

OldeMagick · 15/10/2020 00:06

I wonder how referees will feel about overseeing these matches. I can't imagine they'll feel very comfortable.

kattyboomboom · 15/10/2020 03:36

Ludicrous decision!

EdgeOfACoin · 15/10/2020 05:22

@Oblahdeeoblahdoe

Here are a couple of addresses we can email [email protected] [email protected] I'm also going to ask Eddie Jones what he thinks. I can't imagine him or any other sane male rugby player agreeing with it.
Good plan about the email addresses. Will definitely email.

What I can't get over is how the entire narrative of trans ideology is about having the 'wrong body'. Whether that's a figurative expression or has a biological basis is irrelevant. Transwomen, for all intent and purposes have the 'wrong body' - i.e. they are biologically male.

So why are people with the 'wrong bodies' being admitted onto the women's teams? How does a preference for dresses and nail varnish (or whatever apparently makes you a woman) override the physical advantages of having the 'wrong body'?

EdgeOfACoin · 15/10/2020 05:33

I wish the press would pick this up in a big way.

I consider it cheating if someone who has gone through male puberty competes against women in running and cycling. However, in rugby this is not only cheating but puts women at risk of serious injury.

I would like to see the press do an investigation into this.

EdgeOfACoin · 15/10/2020 06:15

I've also donated to FairPlayForWomen on the Crowdfunder website. Looks like they could do with some more money, if anyone's got a spade.

Sexnotgender · 15/10/2020 07:00

Excellent, well done.
ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 15/10/2020 07:03

I’ve contacted their insurers too and will email the RFU. Done some spadework for FPFW.

Purpler5 · 15/10/2020 07:11

I’ve emailed RFU, will let you know if I get a response.

Would be great if a celebrity or wealthy person could put a wedge of money to Fair Play for women. Can anyone here tweet it to WRA types who may have money and a bigger soap box?

Purpler5 · 15/10/2020 07:23

Does anyone know what Scottish/Welsh/Irish Rugby’s stance on this is? Are they following World Rugby guidance?

Jintyfer · 15/10/2020 08:02

Nick Ferrari will be discussing the RFU Trans policy involves LBC after the 8am news...

"On" 🙄
ilheartjennimurray · 15/10/2020 08:37

Money talks.
I really recommend contacting sponsors, O2 appears to be the main one.

littlbrowndog · 15/10/2020 08:44

Where was th3 science research done to allow men to play in women’s sports ?

Were they just allowed to play with no research ?

Why was this

Exhaustive research has been done to say why this would be very dangerous to women yet it’s ignored

Does the RFU believe that women are worthless and should put up and shut up ?

Cuntysnark · 15/10/2020 08:52

Thank you for the share token Igneococcus. As usual the comments are heartening.

Quadzilla · 15/10/2020 09:00

The NGBs completely contradict each other.
British Cycling’s position is we’re just following the world governing body guidelines and therefore allowing TW.
English Rugby, we’re NOT following the world governing body guidelines and therefore allowing TW.

Sexnotgender · 15/10/2020 09:02

Not seen a single supportive comment for RFUs position on that times article.

Some great comments under that report highlighting the utter absurdity of it all.

EdgeOfACoin · 15/10/2020 09:09

And the problem is it will encourage other sports to do the same.

Wales will point to the RFU decision. The sports authorities in Connecticut that are being sued by the high school girls will take this decision as evidence to support their case.

I thought that when it came to sport, some grown ups in the profession would start to say 'well, hang on a minute, this isn't right'.

I cannot believe that all of the grown ups have left the room. It is outrageous.

This is where the mantra TWAW leads. Colluding in the belief that male-bodied people are identical to biological females in every way does not begin and end with allowing transwomen into women's toilets. It ends with women on the rugby field being put at physical risk in the name of 'kindness' and 'inclusivity.'

For what it's worth, I try to avoid using the term 'transwomen' when talking about sport now. I try to talk about people with male bodies or biological males or transgender players. I think it makes the point clearer by removing the connotations associated with the word 'woman'.

Winesalot · 15/10/2020 09:14

I have just been gobsmacked at the discussions that Ross Tucker is having at the moment. It seems that enough transwomen are upset that they feel this should be assess on discrimination grounds in court. (I say bring it on, at their expense!!)

Still so many of these tweeters saying that they are not male anymore so therefore they should be allowed to compete. And how come there are women who are better than them (I do love it when Dr Hilton points out there will always be mediocre men who are not as good as a sportswoman).

Honestly, Ross Tucker keeps calm and deals with it all very professionally and patiently in the face of some incredible claims. Still, he refutes it all calmly and acknowledges issues where they are. And he is seems confident that the WR would win a court battle.

The first time that Kristi Miller talked about the fact that they are so much older than the other women's rugby players in the team should have rung bells about just how advantaged they were. A 'nan to 7' with the ability to play rugby with women half their age? Talk about being so focused on validating their decisions that they will throw females under the bus.

Hopefully as Ross alludes to, WR will commission or have already started, some data and studies that will prove their decision was correct and everyone can move on. Unfortunately, that will take at least 1-2 years and the RU has decided to go with centring males now.

TheFleegleHasLanded · 15/10/2020 09:15

It’s worth listening back to Nick Ferrari on LBC between 8am and 9am when he discusses this. One male caller towards the end of the programme who is in charge of a club in Somerset says very clearly that these men will not be playing against the women at his club.

So good to hear at least one man gets it and will protect his female players. Some of the other calls were very wishy washy and Ferrari plays devil’s advocate a bit to much for me. He also interviewed that Blair person who was on GMTV yesterday.

Winesalot · 15/10/2020 09:15

RFU not RU

gardenbird48 · 15/10/2020 09:32

One male caller towards the end of the programme who is in charge of a club in Somerset says very clearly that these men will not be playing against the women at his club.

Sadly, without the backing of the RFU, he may not have a choice - there will be accusations of discrimination, threats of action etc etc. The impact of that on small club run by volunteers could be catastrophic.

Cuntysnark · 15/10/2020 09:34

I had to turn Nick Ferrari off when an ex coach (for children) was burbling about ‘they should play where they feel most comfortable’. Incandescent doesn’t come close. In fairness Nick did a Benjamin Buttonesque gasp are that 😂
