Blake Jenner's "apology"

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 09/10/2020 21:46

I don't know if anyone saw Melissa Benoist's (Glee; Supergirl) instagram post about a year ago where she talked at length about being in an abusive relationship which led, among other things, to her needing hospital treatment for an eye injury which never fully healed.

She didn't name the guy who did it but it was generally assumed that it was her ex-husband Blake Jenner. He stayed silent.

Fast forward to today and he has just released his own version of events on Instagram (days after she has announced the birth of her first child with her new husband)...

I read it and it was just one of those horrific self-pitying "apologies" which end up turning all the blame on the victim. I think you can read it here

It's just made me so angry. Such self-pitying bullshit.

Jenner did directly address one incident Benoist described in her Instagram video from November. Benoist said at the time that Jenner threw his iPhone at her face, causing a torn iris and broken nose. In Jenner’s retelling, he “threw [his] phone aimlessly” during an argument and accidentally struck Benoist, causing the injury.

As Judge Judy says, "if it doesn't make sense, it's not true"

Yet another abusive man using the DAVRO bs to make him the "real" victim.
Why is it that these men can never accept or admit that they alone are responsible for their actions

Cailleach1 · 10/10/2020 16:06

Thankfully for her, she has moved on to better life and shaken the dust from the previous chapter from her feet. People ususlly see DARVO for what it is.

Good luck to new mothers everywhere! And I hope you get the support you should.

WhatWouldJKRDo · 10/10/2020 16:10

I’m glad she’s got that man out of her life.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 10/10/2020 16:36

Well, it's all a bit 'she said/he said', so who knows the truth, but yeah, his 'apology' isn't an apology. What he has done is exactly what abusers do with the whole DARVO thing - the 'physical assault in the shower that has left him with a traumatic injury' - nice little horrific titbit that he has left there wide open for speculation. Just be clear about what happened or don't mention it. And are we expected to believe that he threw his phone completely 'aimlessly' and it just happened to hit her square in the eye?

Interesting also that he has waited until this time, when she has just had a baby with a new partner and has clearly moved on to 'speak out' about it.

She has obviously moved on and I hope she is happy. I hope he can find happiness too.

pippitysqueakity · 10/10/2020 17:18

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 10/10/2020 17:27

Sorry, Blake Jenner is an actor who was also in Glee with Melissa Benoist and is her ex-husband.

@nowayhat he is a former glee actor, I only know that because my neice had a huge crush

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 10/10/2020 17:28

...which I've just realised it actually says in the first sentence of the article I linked to as well...

No bother nowayhat glad to help.

Kanaloa · 10/10/2020 17:47

I saw this too. I did think the timing on his part was very odd, rather than replying to it when it all came out previously. I didn’t read the whole thing but I wasn’t impressed.

SunsetBeetch · 10/10/2020 17:53

It's like he can't bear her having all the "attention" and happiness. Very dubious timing.

More Glee actors with tragedies/violence in their lives. All very sad and strange

wellbehavedwomen · 10/10/2020 18:03

The timing rather supports her version of events.

Someone who'd seek to inflict this level of upset, at that point in someone else's life, is not a pleasant individual.

nowayhat · 10/10/2020 18:27

Yes I checked his insta but I still could not see the relevance - but yes I realise he is an actor now. Seems as though his ex-wife is much more successful.

Kaiserin · 10/10/2020 20:24

It's like he can't bear her having all the "attention" and happiness. Very dubious timing.

That's typical narcissist behaviour, isn't it? Makes it sound quite believable that he is, indeed, an abuser.

JacobReesMogadishu · 10/10/2020 23:41

See I actually googled Davao and just got stuff about davro steel and bobby davro.

JacobReesMogadishu · 10/10/2020 23:43

I didn’t bother googling Blake Jenner as I was confident he’s Kim Kardashian’s step brother. 😁
