Stupid Medium article on putting pronouns on e-mail

Please go and do explain to medium readers why this is hostile to women.

The article is more than two years old. And the person (they/them) who wrote it is from the "Argo Collective", which seems to be beyond hope or reason.

I've seen it linked to recently, can't remember where. It's being touted as a great guide on how to be a good person.

It's so irritating. There has been so much good work done in terms of sex neutral interviewing - remember the changes in recruitment that happened when violinists had to perform behind a screen - and now women are being bullied into proclaiming in every work interaction - I AM FEMALE SO PLEASE ACTIVATE YOUR CONSCIOUS OR SUBCONSCIOUS BIAS RIGHT NOW.

I hate this pronoun thing. It really does come across as very pretentious and it's damaging to women. There's a reason I do Dr initialsurname when I communicate outside my organisation!

I have taken to signing off emails regarding misrepresenting the EA (or issues I have with the conflation of sex and gender in documents) with just my initial and surname, no title at all.

Sadly I think that there is still a massive bias against women, especially if we are standing up for our rights.

That's what annoys me most. The sheer lack of knowledge about how damaging this is to women in the workplace.

These woke blokes take such an interest in people they call transwomen and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the 50% of the population formerly known as women. They genuinely don't seem to know the basics -that sexism is a thing and that it damages women.

They're not interested enough to have found that out.

But they're very interested in, determined even, to do sexism. Almost like there's a connection between obliviousness and obnoxiousness.
