He is complaining that Southwark council has tried to prevent gay men from having sex in burgess park. For those unfamiliar with the area, Burgess Park has play areas, sports facilities, a cafe, a lake etc. It's the biggest green space in a very built up area.

Is there some particular reason gay men need to have random encounters in bushes? Is that what he's arguing? Confused

And all this time I thought gay men had a problem with bush.

Mind you the patriarchy has been busy telling women to eradicate their bushes too Hmm

Pay attention everyone. The monkey’s going to speak.

People should NOT have sex in public but
@lb_southwark
council's COURT INJUNCTION to penalise sex in #BurgessPark with TWO YEARS JAIL is excessive. They are ignoring
@metpoliceuk
guidance & not seeking LGBT+ help to solve concerns. When challenged, officials reacted badly

His latest statement.

@EvenSupposing

I wish they would stop writing 8,000 words of pseudo intellectual bollocks about their engorgement. Like I tell my seven year old, 'it's lovely darling but we don't all want to see it right now.'

Nicci Take was one the FT’s top 100 Women in Business along with Pips Bunce. These are the people being lauded as the best womanhood can offer the business world.

I’m angry all over again now.

Management of public spaces is complex. Urban parks like Burgess are in built up areas where few people have access to private gardens. It is important that the needs of one group do not reduce the ability of other groups to enjoy those same spaces.

Bushes provide cover for a variety of activities that may deter other users: gay sex, dogging, drug use, to name but three. Local families may feel less able to allow children into parks without adult supervision, or may limit the area of the park they feel safe to use. (Probably more about syringes than about finding men in flagrante, but both are deterrents.) Teenagers, and London teenagers regularly meet up in parks, will be similarly put off if a space does not feel safe.

Standard park management is to limit areas covered by bushes, in order to increase space available to all, and to reduce scope for ‘hidden’ activities.

The statement seems to suggest a belief that some people’s right trump others. Same old, same old, from a Stonewall activist.

Even the bit that tries to be inclusive (what about men who can't be out in their communities?) is all about entitlement to sex. Sex as a right. This is a right that the local authority must make provision for.

What about me? Middle aged single woman living at home with two children. I can't bring strange men back here so the local authority must provide me with a space where I can have sex. It's so tremendously ludicrous that it doesn't even make sense as an analogy. But that's only because I'm a woman and consequently I don't think the whole world revolves around what my dick wants.

Ain't that the truth.

Two years in prison is most definitely excessive Shock

If he'd put that in the first place I'd be with him 100%>

But he didn't.

NiceGerbil · 03/10/2020 15:33

Oh it doesn't even say that.

It has a whole list of stuff and says if people don't stop doing the thing when asked they can get a fine, or up to two years in prison.

NRatched · 03/10/2020 15:53

Even while knowing Tatchell is a huge creep, I cannot read this as anything bar satire. Even though I know its not.

I suspect the bar for prison is very high and a last resort. You would probably have had to burn your boats at so many levels to even get there.

The scale of offence to go straight to that point doesn't bear thinking of.

Needmoresleep · 03/10/2020 18:37

My guess, knowing a bit about problems in Southwark parks, the by laws have been altered to deal with various sorts of anti-social behaviours, including offences of Indecency, but the main target of the increased fines and custodial sentences will be drug dealers, who have been known to hang out in pocket parks and playgrounds, effectively preventing local kids from enjoying outdoor spaces.

Though typical perhaps to see headline grabbing with the idea that it is all about men and their needs.

WishICouldThinkOfAGoodName · 04/10/2020 07:48

It’s common decency not to fuck in a public space where children might see.... have I missed the point?

Deliriumoftheendless · 04/10/2020 08:28

Children are and always have been an inconvenience for the men looking for no strings sex.

You shouldn’t take your kids to the park, they might see a man having sex. Your fault. You took your kids. Not his fault. He wanted sex. That’s understandable. A right. Mums, try to be more inclusive and stay at home with your kids.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 04/10/2020 11:11

Testicles of Objectivity again, isn't it? Man believes he's indulging in normal and natural behaviour, women who find it discomfiting are automatically wrong, because his subjective interpretation of his behaviour is objective truth.

Thanks, Tyro. The Testicles of Objectivity Star Grin
