So this individual ‘tracks’ the far right and is being monitored by the FBI. The Guardian describes them as a ‘trans freedom fighter.’

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/oct/01/white-supremacist-protest-activism-emily-gorcenski

They say the following:

‘White supremacy is not purely a racial concept. It’s fundamentally racist, but it’s also fundamentally antisemitic, anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-trans, anti-disability. It’s about purification through whiteness and through maleness and through the consolidation of power. When we look at communities that are exclusionary, whether it is the “Terf” movement [trans-exclusionary radical feminists] or the anti-vaxxer movement, we see these movements are an entry point into a broader white supremacist movement. If you read anti-trans forums, which talk about defending “womanhood” against trans people, you will also see anti-Islam sentiments, defending womanhood against Muslims. Then they start gatekeeping sexuality and cis women. You’ll see antisemitic posts about how the initial researchers on “transgenderism” in the early 20th century were Jewish, which is a fact. Then they say it’s the Jews funding medical studies on trans healthcare. You get sucked into this.’

So the Guardian is defending the stalking of gender critical women.

You know I cant figure out the Guardian these days. Theyve had some really good gc articles lately but then they print this tripe

AntsInPenzance · 02/10/2020 11:33

Well they're clearly talking bollocks.

Doyoumind · 02/10/2020 11:36

How can feminism be far right? Why do they keep saying this? I can't be bothered to even read it.

growinggreyer · 02/10/2020 11:38

How can we be "gatekeeping cis women" when that is a box that we did not want to be shoved into and keep trying to escape from?

aliasundercover · 02/10/2020 11:40

So the FWR section should be full of posts that are anti-Semitic, anti-muslim, anti-vaccination, etc. Could anyone link these for me, because I seem to have missed them all.

Collidascope · 02/10/2020 11:41

What a load of bollocks. Movements, by their nature, are exclusionary. They focus on certain issues and exclude others because otherwise nothing would get done. Since when did "exclusionary" become a bad thing?

TastelessBracelets · 02/10/2020 11:43

How can feminism be far right?

Surely it's a socialist movement, wanting equality and fairness?

Apollo440 · 02/10/2020 11:43

They are desperate to make the mud stick that GC = White supremacist/Nazi or whatever, thus allowing any criticism to to dismissed out of hand. Trouble is (and this is a problem with a lot of their idealogy) it isn't true. They will eventually lose all credibility.

DystopianNews · 02/10/2020 11:45

This is the same person who posed with a gun on their profile pic and warned GL he was ‘in their sights.’

Once in a while it would be nice for The Guardian to ask itself "who is this person? what kind of things do they say and do?" before deciding to give them a platform:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3487089-Trans-activist-shares-their-activism-tactics

And no. JKR's article about her position doesn't really compare with a violence-focused fantasy life.

ArabellaScott · 02/10/2020 11:57

I believe there is a thread on this 'freedom' fighter on the fruit farms. Quite illuminating.

Beamur · 02/10/2020 12:08

It's nonsense to say that the anti-vaxxers, etc are all entry points to white supremacism. There might be a stronger correlation in the US but the landscape around anti-vaxxers, radical feminism and the other conspiracies theory hubs in the article are very different in the UK.
There is a fundamental difference between our countries.
I tried to read that article published in the New Statesman? The interview with Judith Butler (I got bored and couldn't finish it) but one line struck me - JB refers to feminism as a fight for gender equality, but that has never been my understanding. To me feminism is fundamentally about emancipation from patriarchal structures.
I think this difference of fundamental meaning of what feminism is about explains an awful lot about why the US view assumes that the UK pro- woman stance is automatically anti- trans and right wing. When it really isn't.

zanahoria · 02/10/2020 12:09

This freedom fighter moved abroad and compiled a speadsheet, even without the libel that is a truly awful article.

zanahoria · 02/10/2020 12:10

and there is more

www.theguardian.com/us-news/series/trans-freedom-fighters

notyourhandmaid · 02/10/2020 12:36

What absolute, toxic bullshit.

notyourhandmaid · 02/10/2020 12:39

Oh, wait, I get it now, 'trans freedom' means fighting against freedom, cool. Wink

NotTerfNorCis · 02/10/2020 14:32

You’ll see antisemitic posts about how the initial researchers on “transgenderism” in the early 20th century were Jewish, which is a fact. Then they say it’s the Jews funding medical studies on trans healthcare

I have never once seen anything like this on GC forums, and I've been reading this stuff for years now.

nauticant · 02/10/2020 14:41

The overlap between Labour SJWs and trans activism would suggest a fair bit of projection going on to make such a statement. Up to DARVO levels.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 02/10/2020 15:00

So campaigning for single sex spaces that Muslim and Jewish women can actually use is anti Muslim and antisemitic? But all the TRAs openly mocking the Muslim and Jewish women who were upset that they could no longer use the hampstead women's pond, or the LibDims appropriating sections out of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism to make it about transphobia, those things are cool? DARVO intensifies. Also, whilst I don't agree with antivaxxers, in my experience they are mostly left wing, anti Western medicine, crunchy types. Theres loads in my group for long term breastfeeding and the idea that they are in anyway white supremacists is bonkers. Given that the vast majority of TRAs seem to be middle aged white men trying to destroy the spaces set up to keep women, and especially women of colour and faith, safe and able to participate in public life, I'd say that "freedom fighter" is talking deliberate shit. Interesting that they call themselves a freedom fighter as well. One person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist and all that.

Wow. The Guardian published a feminist thinkpiece (by Susanna Rustin) on 30 Sep, and then managed to restrain itself for one whole day before vomiting this muck over women. It must have been hurting, bottling it up for so long.

JohnRokesmith · 03/10/2020 00:02

I am always suspicious of anyone who thinks that they are under police surveillance. It seems to be a standard bit of self-aggrandisement from activists who identify as left-wing. Do these people have any idea of how expensive and resource-intensive surveillance is? Emily, let’s be honest, you’re just not important enough to be interesting to the FBI.

EvenSupposing · 03/10/2020 00:10

So we're up there with the people who rammed a car into Heather Heyer?

I mean come on. At least try to connect with reality. Hmm

Knew it wouldn't last. The Guardian is Misogyny Central these days. One X good, two X bad.
