If, for example, a law society Islamic group decided the Equality Act should do away with Sexuality as a protected characteristic then should the Law Society go along with this too on the basis of inclusion of members of that group?

The only thing I can say is that I feel this is the end of living in a democracy. If I cannot trust the Law to be upheld by lawyers, what are they for? Should I ask for a 50% discount the next time I need one because laws aren't really necessary.
