They popped up on the Mermaid Twitter feed as donating proceeds to Mermaids. Oh that's interesting I thought. I assume that means that they are of the TWAW ilk and was wondering how that actually flowed through to book choices etc.

It does sound like a lovely local group and I am sure it is a friendly group who have interesting debates. But I did raise an eyebrow at their photo. Can you spot who it talking and who is smiling and listening?

That did make me properly laugh - one of the most accidentally mansplaining pictures you could find. (But I agree it looks like a great group.)

(Charitably, it may well be that they got a local author in to talk about race, perhaps, in the wake of BLM, and just thought it was a really nice pic - but in the context of a feminist reading group... Oops, the optics!)
