Trans women in sport vs funding - arguments

I know that many, including myself, are trying to raise awareness of the difference in physical ability between natal men and natal women due to male puberty. I sometimes use the chart which compares college boys with female Olympic athletes.

I was discussing with a feminist friend who has a very sporty daughter and she initially did not want to have the conversation. It appears that these charts and statistics are used by other groups to justify lower pay for female athletes.

I was unaware of this Blush. I think it may be useful to mention this double whammy in discussions, I.e used to justify lower pay for women whilst simultaneously being ignored to steal part of whatever money is left from natal women. Before leading the discussion to missed opportunities and risk of physical harm.

Has this already been discussed here?

What do people think?

Just catching up on the thread now.

My friend was not aware of the trans woman argument. She had never come across any trans women in sports and hadn’t followed the debate on US scholarships (and believed that Caster was intersex, but had no unfair advantage). The whole debate had passed under her radar.

She was mainly focused on the lack of funding for girls youth clubs compared to boys youth clubs and was trying to promote female sports in general. I believe there are more like her out there.

A lot of women don’t hear about this stuff because for The most part Advocates have done things behind the scenes and Left media Have refused to cover any of it.

A super woke friend of mine, when I broached the subject concluded “we’ll surely 3rd spaces would be the answer” and I thought “well indeed, but you’re a T—- bigot now for thinking that”

I think the complication with professional sports, in terms of pay, is that it is essentially an entertainment industry. Money for talent works on the same basis in both, too.

So as far as the charts go, if people think women's sports is less interesting to viewers due to differences in women's physicality, than it would make sense that like elsewhere in entertainment, the money wouldn't be as large. And if people feel that's unfair, it makes sense they'd not like the comparison.

The fact is though unless the physical differences are acknowledged, there is no reason to have sex segregated sports, so women would lose out even more.

Personally I don't like the way sports have been made into an industry, and I'd be happy to see them funded differently all round.
