Busker Nehanda - biology is real

Great interview with a very thoughtful, considered, and (in the current climate) very brave young woman. I know so many her age who quietly express horror, but are silenced for fear of the pushback. She isn't allowing herself to be. She refers to JK Rowling, Maya Forstater, and her mum, and is crystal clear that you can support trans people's right to live as feels authentic, without it being okay to throw women under the bus to do so. Her lightbulb moment came when she was abused for mentioning her uterus on a social media post, and told that made her transphobic.

Biology is real, I can say that without fear of being canceled, there’s nothing to cancel. I sing in the streets and make music at home. No one can stop me from doing that. I’m in a position many women aren’t and many women will tell you why biology matters. It matters because it shapes our lives. I have done so much research on this complex topic and I don’t have the answers but I know it doesn’t take too much digging to see there is a conflict here.

That's brilliant, she sums it up very well.

She really does. And she's so blunt about it, too - doesn't mince her words in any way, just puts it out there. Given her age, and the general climate of fear over this for women, that's impressive.

what sets Nehanda apart from her peers is an independent spirit. I wish there were more.
