Ignore them Ster, they are being incredibly rude to you. I'm always interested in hearing about different ways of life.

Thank you, I appreciate that
StephenKong · 25/09/2020 13:48

Nobody is being rude. They asked a question and were told it had been answered already, "many times". It hasn't.

I live in Stoke. These events have been going on since my childhood (which was quite some time ago). Not my think but there is more danger in the Girl Guides at the moment than at Waterworld. Mo Chaudry has been working with the naturists for donkeys years. He's not going to stop hiring to them now just because a few vigilantes that pop up every year.

I knew someone who was jailed for paedophilia. He was a fellow guest at a wedding we attended with my kids when they were little. It's sickening what he did but I know as a parent I protected my children as much as possible by supervision and education.

Comefromaway · 25/09/2020 14:47

I also used to run kids classes. Our Cp training told us that paedophiles would always try and gain access to places where there are children whether that be swimming pools, sports teams or whatever and that everyone must be vigilant regardless.

VinylDetective · 25/09/2020 14:57

What is the point in being naked for a swim though? What do you actually get from it?

Asks someone who’s obviously never swum naked. It’s like the difference between sex with and without a condom. I’m not a naturist but I love a skinny dip when I get the chance.

How do you square that with encouraging all round nudity? These people might consider themselves part of a "community", but they're all strangers to each other.
Comefromaway · 25/09/2020 15:12

I guess thats the difference between those who see bodies as something shameful or sexual and those who see bodies as natural and free.

StephenKong · 25/09/2020 15:14

Oh, don't talk rot Hmm.

Comefromaway · 25/09/2020 15:19

Well, I guess I'll see you all here again next year.

@Handsoffisback

weary how awful for your poor DD. I cannot even begin to think how traumatic being forced to be naked and seen other people’s genitals will be for some of these children.
Only if nudity is an alien concept to them. The 21st century really is the second wave of Puritanism.

Said no woman, ever.

That's a really odd stance, VinylDetective
Nudity isn't an "alien concept" to most kids, but the majority would be mortified to thrust into the middle of a crowd of naked men. Strange men.
Your post is really quite suspect.

I wonder why we don’t let school staff all work naked around naked kids? What better way to teach children the human body is not shameful.

Oh yeah, cos most parents and staff would want it shutting down.

Pelleas · 25/09/2020 16:33

@Wearywithteens

VinylDetective - nudity in a large scale group setting is alien to me and the majority of people actually. Puritanism? What utter bollocks (forgive the pun). It’s called being civilised. And children do not need to see lots of adult strangers naked unless they live in a tribe of naked adult strangers. It’s about societal norms and safeguarding.
It's very insular to suggest that only clothes-wearing societies are 'civilised' - just as it's insular to suggest that people who are uncomfortable with nudity are 'puritanical'.

If people want to embrace naturism they should be free to do so without allegations of impropriety. No one should be forced to accept 'societal norms' unless by rejecting them they are actively harming others.

If no one ever challenged 'societal norms' nothing would ever change (for the better).
