Kiera Bell has an update

I can’t see a thread about this. Kiera had two cases that she was bringing to judicial review . One was about consent to treatment that is going to court on the 8/9th of October. The other was around conversion therapy and that is now not going ahead because the government have announced a review into care of transgender children.

Thanks - it was mentioned in another thread but probably deserves its own.

It's good news I think? - sounds like the govt review should cover most/all of the same ground as Keira's planned case, but that will reduce the stress on Keira hopefully, and also means any leftover money raised for that case (some will already have been used on legal work I assume) can be transferred to her other case.

I hope any evidence/documents/whatever already prepared for this case can be passed on to Dr Cass to feed into the NHS review!

Lots of good news atm. Let's hope that "independent" really means independent, and that detransitioner and affirmation critical HCPs are included (and listened to!)

Great news. Well done Keira.

The review will be done by Hilary Cass and involve young people, parents and stakeholders. So a good opportunity for those who are affected to share their views.

I am heartened that Dr Cass has expertise in children with autism so their needs should be taken into account.

Keira has done an amazing job in giving young people who have detransitioned a voice.

I was momentarily disconcerted and had to dig quickly, but this is actually good news. A judicial review is a last resort and a properly funded, independent review by an expert team will have the time and scope to investigate much more deeply. I hope Keira can give evidence to the review.
