School Trans protocol - can you help?

I’m a school governor and tonight we were presented with the new trans protocol -
Created with the help of the University of Essex/ Brighton and Cornwall Councils - and apparently recognised by the DfE as best/excellent practice.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction to find out if the DfE recognition is true or not (I suspect it may have had something of the sort a number of years back but not recently). I’ve done some digging but had no luck so far.

Could you contact TransgenderTrend for advice?

Thank you - I already looked at their website, but didn’t spot anything, was hoping to go back to the school tomorrow morning. But I will contact them anyway - thanks for the link

OP - the Cornwall guidelines were originally "recommended" by the DfE in the sense that the DfE guidelines about the Equality Act signposted them - alongside Stonewall & varous other trans lobby groups while incredibly failing to mention any the other organisation working on every other protected characteristic (SEN, Disability, Race, Race etc etc ).

Also Safe Schools Alliance has lots of information:

Safeguarding, safeguarding and more safeguarding.

Also it will probably trample all over protected characteristics in the Equality Act - point this out and mention that it leaves you wide open to legal action.

Point out that Oxfordshire LA withdrew their trans guidance under threat of legal action.

@persistentwoman do you know when that was? Is it recent or a few years ago?

Hello crumpet

Not sure if this is helpful, but I remember a previous post from a school governer. They saw their job as asking questions about new protocols in terms of 'worst case scenarios'. For example, what if a policy allows males into girls changing rooms and they film girls changing and that is posted online. What questions will parents ask? Are they insured? Etc....

You can find it here in the DfE guide to the Equality Act:
assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/315587/Equality_Act_Advice_Final.pdf

The senior civil servant in the DfE was worryingly obsessed with Stonewall etc - he's just been got rid of after the exams debacle - but in the light of that it's no surprise that this guidance focuses so much on gender reassignment and directs schools to organisations that gaslight children with the 'born in the wrong body' and' puberty blockers are harmless and reversible' myths
