Very carefully tiptoeing around the self ID issue. She’s very against it.

The tide is turning.

Gosh Michelle I love your writing.

It's the women being present in women's spaces thing isn't it? No validation in a third space. Once seen, never unseen - again.

Thanks to all in this board for the education, and I mean all. Having lurked for years it's clear just what women are up against, and even now it's repeated day after day after day.

Like the Carti person in the Times comments, wilful misunderstanding and ignoring all other points of view except their own.

No means no. No males means no males. I don't give a flying frig about how you feel about yourself or how much money you have spent on your presentation. Mine and my daughters' safety, dignity and privacy are simply too important to give away.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 17/09/2020 12:39

In all honesty, I really wouldn't object to a fully transitioned person using the loo of their choice, even though I know full well they aren't female. It must be awful to not he at ease in your own body.
But unfortunately exploitative males and thick as shit woke celebrities have ruined it for genuine trans people and women.
In the past we would have all politely pretended not to notice a tw using the loo and not felt threatened. Now we have to worry about whether that person is a predatory male masquerading as a tw.
I don't know why this is so hard for society as a whole to grasp.
I see the BMA have agreed to give away women's rights yesterday as well!

Watching IW on CBB was a real eye opener. She insisted loudly that she was a woman. Amanda Barrie even agreed with her but talked to her like she was placating an angry toddler. Yet even after agreeing with India, Amanda did not treat India in quite the same manner she treated the women in the house.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 17/09/2020 12:54

I am a woman! Let that penetrate!

Wow - horrid.

I’ve never felt the need to state that. Ever. Now let me think why...

SunsetBeetch · 17/09/2020 13:30

She's just posted this in response to Penis News:

"Oh f* off. Real trans people are incredibly tough. Survivors. Have to be. Don’t need protecting from a book shelf. #JKRowling"

How daft is this ! I don’t agree with what she said but people should still be allowed freedom of speech to say how they feel

Of course 👍 I’m the same. She spent a year telling the world that trans women were dangerous, and then creates a character who uses women’s clothes to get close to a victim. Disingenuous to say it’s just another story. But it’s one book. Don’t read it if it stresses you out 🤷🏼‍♀️

She spent a year telling the world that trans women were dangerous

Careful India, making up defamatory accusations like that is potentially a legal matter. She did no such thing, and you know it. Males are dangerous as a group, we know this.

Datun · 17/09/2020 17:06

In an interview, with Karen Ingala Smith (Counting Dead Women), about domestic violence perpetrated against women, in response India said it's the men they felt sorry for 'this particular year'.

Thinks women should shave their legs otherwise they're dirty. And has no understanding of why that's sexist. Called Jenni Murray something like a has-been dinosaur because Jenni disagreed.

Harangued Amanda on Big Brother, it was awful to watch.

And calls mumsnetters every name under the sun.

India Willoughby has zero affinity with women. None.

I don't think anyone doesn't totally understand why India thinks they are more deserving of women's spaces than other transwomen. The same way that Tara Hudson thinks it is they who are more deserving, due to how long they have been a transwoman. Or those who say they pass and think it is that which makes them deserving. Or Pip Bunce who thinks they are deserving three days a week, but not the other four days when they are dressed as a man.

Any number of male born individuals, deciding on the exact criteria which each one wants, in order to have women's spaces.

Nah.

Fuxking hell. She's done no such thing. Shock

I'd like to see Rose of Dawn given more.of the spots on GMB that would normally go to India. I'm not just saying this because I agreed with her, but I think she did a muxh better job at getting pointd across, whilst being calm and measured.

ShagMeRiggins · 17/09/2020 17:32

This is it, according to one twitter thread. This is literally all that is said in the book.

Sorry, wrong thread.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 17/09/2020 17:36

Willoughby was very aggressive with women, knowing full well that cameras were recording Willoughby's every move.

I'm not confident that they'll be less aggressive in womens spaces when no cameras are present. All it may take is a woman or girl to say or do the wrong thing and Willoughby's temper may rear itself again.

If some women are happy to share with them, maybe they can campaign for shared space and leave other women and girls with the safe and with dignity of women only spaces.

SerenityNowwwww · 17/09/2020 17:37

How old is India? Because we know that women of a certain age are... well pretty much ignored or ridiculed/attacked - either way, have little authority or power.

India is finding this out maybe?

She has a far better overview of all the issues. When India speaks, it's all about India and what they want, think, need. With appeals to the camera about how on Earth could they ever be expected to use facilities designed for their sex.

Rose of dawn takes a far more neutral approach to all of it.

However, it would be marvellous if more women were actually asked about what they think should happen to their own rights.

Wouldn't it be staggering on GMB to see the ratio of 4 to 1 in favour of women and not the other way round? It's extraordinarily sexist.

As I recall, India has always been very against self ID. India did go quiet at one stage about it after a particularly brutal mauling from TRAs, and I think she might have tweeted once or twice in a neutral type way about it while that was going on, but always been quite obviously against it. But..I would bet the huge majority of 'old school transsexuals' are against it and find it not just as barmy as we do, but also find it threatens their own priveleges. After all, there was no debate really besides a few quiet feminist circles, when it was about men who have fully transitioned, and many women were fine to be a bit uncomfortable to 'allow' those men to feel better about themselves. Hell, if it was all about me, I would be fine with those who had actually transitioned in (most) womens spaces. But its not, and I know some women are not ok with it, hence my line in the sand. And I think this is where a lot of women are. So 'old school transsexuals' were correct, the behaviour of transactivists has indeed threatened (and removed) their priveleges. The MRA type behaviour has helped a great many women find their voices, and listen to other womens stories. And come together as one really..

BatShite · 17/09/2020 23:20

Oh, I quoted that post to ponder if JK might possibly send a letter about that tweet. Its total bullshit, and provable bullshit. I have never ever seen her say transwomen are dangerous, let alone saying it for a year!

ChattyLion · 18/09/2020 01:40

Brilliant post Michelle

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 18/09/2020 02:14

@MillyMollyFarmer

India only cares about India. The way they behaved on CBB pointing their finger at the women, many older women, yelling: ‘ I am a woman! Let that penetrate!’, as well as repeatedly massaging lotion into their breasts in front of the women makes me very sure that I do not want to share a changing room with them or listen to a single lie they say.
Penetrate is an interesting word choice.
