I listened to this on the podcast this morning. It was really grim, wasn't it?

I've long wondered at the different approaches we take to Islamic terrorist violence and violence/terrorism against women. With religious terrorism, we tell people to carry on living their lives, "don't let the terrorists win!" and we rely on the authorities to protect us. That seems so different to the restrictions women are expected to put up with to avoid being victims, the responsibility that is put on us to not be in the wrong place at the wrong time wearing the wrong clothes. And of course a huge number of men who commit terrorist crimes already have a history of violence against women.

Yes it was rather. The ubiquitous violent pornography online is so obviously a big part of this misogyny. I don't know how to argue it out with young people without sounding like an anal retentive bigot though?
