According to TED^x... (x is an exponent denoted by superscript as per their branding/imagery)

Also per their branding/imagery, x=10

So, TED is now TEDx or TED10 or TEDTEDTEDTEDTEDTEDTEDTEDTED*TED

Since when do people and/or entities multiply by themselves every year they age? Me thinks they don't get basic maths. It would be more logical IMO to use subscript i.e. TED_x meaning x TEDs or 10 TEDs.

So would 'womxn' actually be womtenn? Or is it wom10n? Or is it really, you are what we^ say you are so it doesn't actually matter?

TED lost the plot... no more Technology (except pseudoscience), all entertainment a lot of the time, and now rampant redesign of logic and critical thinking to a fault. Perhaps they are TED^x now - they certainly have embraced logic destruction to the 10th power.

merrymouse · 08/09/2020 20:16

How do you know when it is written down if it means woman or women?

Women are formless, so I suppose it doesn’t matter.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2020 20:46

" I'm sure it's news to black women that they don't count as actual women"
What?
This actually makes me feel a bit murdeeous. I'm sick of women being erased.

Childrenofthestones · 08/09/2020 21:17

Hahaha, how are they pronouncing that?

feelingverylazytoday · 08/09/2020 21:34

@JellyFishSquish

On Woman's Hour today speaker (Stephanie someone?) used womxn in the book she was flouting and said only white feminists are uptight about transwomen and don't want to include them. Didn't stay to listen (in and out of garden) and glad I didn't, I would have been too riled up for gardening.
Has this idiot never heard of LSA?
DeliciouslyFemale · 08/09/2020 21:40

Has this idiot never heard of LSA?

Don’t you mean LSX? Grin

Nomnomarrgh · 09/09/2020 00:41

Bit confused by DM article. Says womxn originally made up by rad fems. I know there’s someone on that feminist website that gives me the rage with womxxn, but really?

I think perhaps they're getting confused with 'womyn',
Collidascope · 09/09/2020 06:00

I might start calling us womXXn. That's got to be doubly inclusive, right?

CircleofWillis · 09/09/2020 07:20

And of course we black women are not actually people with the ability to have our own thoughts and opinion but an amorphous mass that only exists when someone else wants to score woke points.

I immediately thought of LSA as well. I dare someone to send Stephanie a link.

cyclingmad · 09/09/2020 07:27

I'm not being funny but the shaing men rule the world or its man's world really hits home. So a man decides he identifies as a woman and now erasing the veey identity of being called woman by using womxn.

Why aren't women who identify as a man doing this stuff and having changed made by saying it should be mxn?

bellinisurge · 09/09/2020 07:46

@Collidascope 😂😂

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 09/09/2020 08:31

TEDx can pxss xff.

Star Star
[a double stXXr for this]

cyclingmad · 09/09/2020 08:42

Of you look at this this way the words woman, women and female all have the word man, men and male in if...isn't that itself quite inclusive 🤔 yet with man, men and male its just binary

testing987654321 · 09/09/2020 08:46

I wonder how anyone using a screen reader is getting on with this thread.

IheartJKR · 09/09/2020 08:47

@FlibbertyGiblets

Seriously now I think what is happening is an attempted repositioning of language thusly:

TWAW
Women THE CUNTY KIND becomes womxn

Thoughts? Obvs I am saying nope. The cunty kind are women. You silly billies.

^^ My opinion exactly

I'd bet there are more people in the population who use screen readers than think "womxn" is in any way a good idea.
queenofknives · 09/09/2020 09:08

I think some TRAs are putting about the idea that womxn is a feminist term. As far as I'm concerned it is a nonsense. It is the opposite of inclusive as it excludes woman from our own word. It's like saying vegxn is a better word as it includes meat eaters. Just utter fucking nonsense.

WomXXn is just brilliant!

'All animals are equal but some are more equal than others'

I guess that the word 'inclusive' is another one of those words where you can change the definition to suit whatever you want it too. Brave new world.

MeridaTheBold · 09/09/2020 10:05

Laughably, one of the questions in the survey before it was taken down was about accessibility - for an event where the title isn't even accessible and the need to include myn (I'm liking the idea of linking it to chromosomes) means it's not accessible to many women.
I wonder if 'big brother' TED is going to wade in or just leave TEDx London to deal with its own mess.

SerenityNowwwww · 09/09/2020 10:09

Maybe we need a new version - Mary - Mary Talks? Or Theresa Talks or... Tina!

Welcome to my TINA Talk...

RoyalCorgi · 09/09/2020 10:10

And of course we black women are not actually people with the ability to have our own thoughts and opinion but an amorphous mass that only exists when someone else wants to score woke points.

It's so racist, isn't it? If I was black this would absolutely enrage me.

And as usual the truth is the opposite - many high-profile gender critical feminists are black, including Allison Bailey, Linda Bellos and Raquel Rosario Sanchez.
