Still the ratio is a joy. Idiots!

OP posts:

Well now... that's very interesting that George Galloway has waded in.... he must feel it's quite safe for him to do so....Wink

merrymouse · 08/09/2020 16:31

You need a staggering amount of privilege to assume that anyone cares about your innate identity when they deprive you of the right to vote or access education or control your fertility.

ThunderSkies · 08/09/2020 16:34

The thing is, address they also using mxn? No? Wonder why...

ThunderSkies · 08/09/2020 16:34

Are, not address Hmm

ThunderSkies · 08/09/2020 16:35

And double HmmHmm because the op already mentioned mxn 🤦

WackyDuck · 08/09/2020 16:42

I'm a bit confused. What is Womxn supposed to even mean? Does it include everyone who calls themselves a woman? Does that mean that TWAW = Transwomen are Womxn?

FlibbertyGiblets · 08/09/2020 17:06

Seriously now I think what is happening is an attempted repositioning of language thusly:

TWAW
Women THE CUNTY KIND becomes womxn

Thoughts? Obvs I am saying nope. The cunty kind are women. You silly billies.

merrymouse · 08/09/2020 17:25

Right Wing Men: "Stop pretending women need special rights"
Left Wing Men: "Stop pretending women need special rights"

BacklashBacklash · 08/09/2020 17:32

Does that mean that TWAW = Transwomen are Womxn?

There's some sloganeering I could get behind 😄 And no one could even get annoyed about it cos it's progressive and inclusive, apparently. Meanwhile, women can be women.

JellyFishSquish · 08/09/2020 17:51

On Woman's Hour today speaker (Stephanie someone?) used womxn in the book she was flouting and said only white feminists are uptight about transwomen and don't want to include them. Didn't stay to listen (in and out of garden) and glad I didn't, I would have been too riled up for gardening.

How did she say womxn?

I find this idea of white feminism - which is used as a term to shut us up - entirely misogynistic. What about BAME GC women? The whole gender identity argument places overwhelmingly white (in the UK anyway) males above women in the oppression rankings.

Do people actually buy into this?

TEDx London - why we’re using womxn
JellyFishSquish · 08/09/2020 18:33

"How did she say womxn?"

Jane Garvey pointed out the spelling to ask about its use. She did that by spelling it, for it is unpronounceable surely.

Doyoumind · 08/09/2020 18:37

TheRealMcKenna so does that mean womxn is exclusionary of white women or am I misunderstanding? I'm not expecting you to know the answer, just to be clear!

testing987654321 · 08/09/2020 18:38

Yep, you seem to pronounce it woman or women as appropriate.

That's one of the problems with all this, they don't really want us to use womxn all the time because they rely on us all knowing woman/women. It's a bit like how transwomen need most people to be gender conforming in their mannerisms and dress, because without actual women to base their imitation on they have nothing.

SerenityNowwwww · 08/09/2020 18:40

Wo-Mixin’?
Wo-mo-cross-en?

No it’s not pronounceable. Unless it’s a silent x. Wo-mnnnnn.

merrymouse · 08/09/2020 19:08

only white feminists are uptight about transwomen and don't want to include them.

This only makes sense if you are more focused on being in the feminism club than protecting women's rights.

Nobody has the power to include or exclude anyone from a sex. If humans could do this we'd all be sequential hermaphrodites.

Rockbird · 08/09/2020 19:31

I'm sure I saw a typically brilliant response from Dr JCJ earlier but I can't find it now.

I think it implies that ‘black LGBTQ+’ feminism is happy to include womxn because this branch of feminism is inclusive.

White feminists, on the other hand, exclude anyone who is not a white, straight, c** woman from their feminism.

The emphasis on correct ‘spelling’ is only ever called out by white feminists as the emphasis on correct spelling is a feature Of white supremacy.

There are examples of this line of thinking everywhere. I can find a few (on MN as well) but that was a perfect illustration.

Antibles · 08/09/2020 19:49

Arsehxles

Their mission apparently being to educate people and they can't even identify and reject this gaslighting bullshit for what it patently is.

And yeah, it's never mxn.

Is TED part of this woke car crash too or does TEDx make its own separate stupid spelling errors?

As opposed to inclusively obscure spelling that can't be easily pronounced using common phonetic rules... Confused

Langsdestiny · 08/09/2020 20:08

Well as alison bailey pointed out every woman taking legal action at the moment with regard to this issue is a woman of colour.

Stripesgalore · 08/09/2020 20:08

How do you know when it is written down if it means woman or women?
