Hello mumsnetters. I don't post often on FWR, but I am a regular lurker, and semi-regular name changer.

With the introduction of compulsory RSE, and the various scandals involving the groups who provide teaching resources (The Proud trust, etc), I thought it would be helpful to collect information about all these providers in a single thread. (I don't think this has been done already, but please correct me if I'm wrong!)

Many of these groups have shown a profound lack of judgement about child safeguarding, to say the least. There is also the issue of teaching gender identity theory as if it were fact, rather than belief. We know many of these groups have an agenda.

On the other hand, I'm sure most of us would agree that good quality RSE is important, and teaching about lgbt issues, when done well, is also important.

So, as well as cataloguing the many worrying discoveries we have seen from so many organisations, I think it would be productive if there were organisations we could recommend to schools as an alternative.

I will link to currently active threads and add other info that I've used with my children's school.

I don't get much time for posting, so I won't come back to the thread often, but will check in periodically.

That's all I have time for, for now.

If anyone knows what Just Like Us are like, could you let me know? Their resources have been used at my child's school:

Just Like Us had Olly Pike on a webinar and I also wouldn't touch:

Celebrate and Educate
Jigsaw
Bish
Equaliteach
Gender Jam

And the
National PSHE CPD Programme

Transgender Trend are the only org I would direct schools to. There was one other I was researching who looked good at first but have since been turned. I will look them up.

'Crush' in Wales but may be also further afield. EJ Renolds is very interesting )as in worrying)

Seemed to be behind some of the resources withdrawn after challenges by Safe Schools Alliance and parents (Transgender Toolkits).

Jonny Hunt, who was behind the masturbation for primary kids furore has a new programme for primary schools, My Feelings, Friends and Family.

He also does several train the teacher courses (free for those in Warwickshire) and has much more content being developed.

Jonny Hunt was behind the Warwickshire CC stuff wasn't he, the Respect Yourself programme?

How he is allowed anywhere near teaching and kids is beyond me.

This could be useful (and maybe it is connected to the OP?) - see the quick review comments marked underneath.

I've signed up for updates. Great work whoever is behind this!

OhHolyJesus · 11/09/2020 17:34

So I can see that the Values Foundation are behind this.

ValancyRedfern · 11/09/2020 19:13

I was involved in reviewing the 'Agender' resources supported by the NEU. Lots of clownfish nonsense. My negative reviews weren't taken seriously...

OhHolyJesus · 12/09/2020 17:30

Has anyone looked at Outschool? I see anime drawing classes and my spidey sense are tingling...

WaverleyStation · 12/09/2020 19:33

OhHolyJesus I've just looked at the Sexwise material on the website you linked to. It's resources are recommended by the DfE, apparently. Have you seen the sex list it recommends students do (via a link to an over 18 website)? It has all sorts including scat play. WTF.

How can DfE be recommending this kind of content?

WaverleyStation · 12/09/2020 19:45

Just looked at the Values Foundation and they have the same concerns that we have been discussing here and on Twitter etc. and even have a petition to sign. values.foundation/

Anyone looked at Brook? Article in Times today by Brook person espousing virtues of RSE, but their website is all Gendered Intelligence and Allsorts links, and predictable “assigned at birth” crap.

OhHolyJesus · 14/09/2020 17:55

I haven't seen Sexwise yet @WaverleyStation but I'll take your word for it, it's possible that it actually isn't recommended by DfE. I think it was Educate and Celebrate that used a govt logo without permission...I may have remembered that wrong.

Maybe write to your MP, asking them to pass onto DfE to confirm that they do support the content? If you point out the what Skat is and if they think children should be learning about how playing with faeces is a sexual practice is I'm sure they will respond! I'll also write to mine.

Increasingly I find complaints are making a small impact. Maybe I've just been lucky recently but we have to keep going.

Have signed the petition too!

ValancyRedfern · 14/09/2020 19:16

There's a lot of material made peer to peer by teachers and sold or shared via Facebook or TES. One teacher runs a very large Pshe group on FB and makes a lot of very detailed resources - most of which look brilliant. The gender identity section is all cis, assigned at birth etc etc. Says everyone had a gender identity. All taught as fact.

OhHolyJesus · 15/09/2020 11:25

If you can DM me with the name of that FB group @ValancyRedfern I'd be grateful. Thanks.
