Really pleased to see this. Alley says 'these decisions should be made well into adulthood' and that opposing it is not transphobia.
I hope she's not bullied into retracting.
I'm seeing more and more Americans speak up. Hoping this horrifying movement is beginning to reach its peak there too.

I wish she wouldn’t refer to it as a “sex change operation”. There is no such thing. Sex is immutable.
There is no surgery that can change it, there are just cosmetic procedures that can give a superficial resemblance to the opposite sex.
Every cell of the patient’s body remains their original sex, and they will never produce opposite sex gametes.
As a doctor, I am beyond weary of people confusing sex with gender identity! One rather expects it from TRAs, but it’s a little irritating when GC supporters are muddled in their thinking too.

In addition that leads to a discussion that depends on interpretation with TRAs arguing that a “sex change operation” will only be carried out on adults and so there's no problem*.

• double mastectomies tend to get brushed under the carpet in these discussions ** the problem is actually the medical pathway that is initiated by puberty blockers and that for nearly all children the endpoint is sterilisation and life-changing surgery
