Strangely one appointee to this organisation for women seems much more popular than the other. Anyone got any clue as to why?

Coincidentally I’ve just completed Level 3 in Hostile and Violent Communication Training.

just for kicks ...

Message deleted if I actually said what I think.

Quillink · 02/09/2020 23:39

What were they thinking? Throughout history, not a single person of Emme's sex has ever menstruated.

As Pp said, why not appointment a transman to be inclusive?

ErrolTheDragon · 02/09/2020 23:50

To answer my own question, I suppose not many TM or NB females would actually want the position, and may possibly not be inclusive of them.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/09/2020 23:52

Not sure the usual connotation of 'red tent' is particularly relevant to this org?

NiceGerbil · 03/09/2020 00:31

Just quietly getting on with life does seem to pretty frequently involve applying for positions reserved for women and demanding access to things that are single sex eg sports teams, women only swimming etc.

Funny isn't it.

Deliriumoftheendless · 03/09/2020 06:24

@RadicalFern

Delirium at what level can you start teaching that to others? Because I would like to sign up...
🤣

Sometimes advert pop up on my insta, at the moment there’s adverts for various courses. At first glance they’re fairly sensible, like aromatherapy but then they get stupider and more niche (like a Cryptozoology Diploma course).

All those things listed are nonsense courses, just money spinners. It’s back to the gravy train theory again.

These red tent organisations are typically very new age culty and some are fronts for recruiting women and girls into sex work / sex trafficking, usually via divine feminine "awaken your inner sexy goddess" retreats.

Some red tents organise "sharing circles" where women are encouraged to discuss very private / intimate things that may later be used against them or may be sold on to psychics, plastic shamans etc. who appear to possess remarkable / supernatural insights into their clients' private lives.

I have not had time to research this particular group but I couldn't help noticing this on their fb (emphasis mine)

Introducing Andrea Garcia our new President.

We are so excited to have Andrea guiding the new evolution of Red Tent Australia along with a fabulous committee of incredible women.
Congratulations to each one of you!

Here is a little bit about Andrea in her words

............

"Every thought you have ever had in your life, has contributed to every choice you have ever made and brought you to this point in time, where our timelines are crossing so that you are reading this that I have written.
Right now...

My name is Andrea, mother of 3 beautiful children. I am an only child to loving Chilean immigrant parents who raised me in Melbourne. I am also a 5th generation Psychic Medium in my family with a strong cultural heritage.

Our intergenerational teachings have become a way of life, and thanks to this I have been doing readings since I was 12 years old.

I practice Mindfulness, Plant Medicine, Embodiment, Breathwork, Kundalini Reiki to mention a few. You truly am the medium to your environment.

I am also a Shadow Alchemist, Quantum Leaper, and lover of life.

I believe that multiple realities and truths coexist simultaneously without one being an exclusive truth, in peace, harmony and balance. I welcome diversity and am passionate in empowering others to stand in their truth to create beautiful heart centred teams and culture.

My mission is to inspire so that people can stand in their own truth as leaders of their own choices, and to facilitate the transition into integrating polarities in their journey back to their own hearts."

I have no time to research this red tent set up but would recommend this link as a foundation for further research

The other concern I have about many Red Tent organisations is that they can be very MLM orientated, with new members encouraged to take expensive facilitator trainings and retreats and to recruit new members.

Some groups are simply new age / hippy type groups with tarot cards, crystals etc. Many serve as gateways into other MLMs (often essential oils) and sometimes to abusive cults

ArabellaScott · 03/09/2020 08:57

Thanks, hooda. Makes a depressing sort of sense that it's a movement full of woo. At least that is consistent with TWAW stance - womanly souls etc.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/09/2020 09:14

  • I am also a Shadow Alchemist, Quantum Leaper, and lover of life.

I'm a lover of life, a chemist, sometimes do a bit of quantum mechanics (and also a Scott Bakula aficionado), I wonder how I'd fit in?Grin

They are indeed fabulous and incredible and it makes not a jot of difference to rational feminism and the real issues facing women who this shower include and appoint.

But the fawning over one versus the other being virtually ignored looked shitty.

On a sort-of related note, has anyone read the book The Red Tent by Anita Diamant? It is an incredible read. Star

My last point is illustrated quite well by this video, which explores disiformation and D&Q

Yeah i have, I thought it was excellent

Years ago though

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 03/09/2020 10:41

it may be that your positive thinking and the power of your thoughts are just full of fail

Thats a evangelical religious thing as well itsnt it

All that ‘god will heal you if you just prayed enough’ still in the wheelchair? Obviously not praying enough

RadicalFern · 03/09/2020 10:55

Rufus it's more an offshoot of Pentecostalism than Evangelicalism. It's the actual worst. Ugh.

You are both correct however the whole New Thought movement with various "Thought Leaders" (always a red flag IME) is as fascinating as it is sinister.

The very wonderful faminst author Barbara Ehrenreich, done a lot to expose the dark side of the positive thinking / New Thought movement.

Ehrenreich's first encounter with the movement was when she was diagnosed with cancer, which she describes in this video that I would recommend highly

Barbara Ehrenreich: "Bright Sided: How Positive Thinking Undermines America"

hoodathunkit · 06/09/2020 08:05

oops major typo fail, faminst should read feminist obviously,

That is appalling. I’d heard of Red Tent before, and was surprised that it wasn’t a single-sex organisation, as it’s based around women’s cultural history of menstruation rather than affirming TW. But this culty stuff sounds like grooming, at least.

It is appalling.

The Red Tent movement is, IMO, an example of astroturfing and perversion of feminism.

In nation states where the cultures are highy misogynistic they use red tent related material to discredit feminism.

It is not hard for them to do this.

Pretty much all Red Tent meetups and organisations are involved in vile cultural approriation of indigenous cultures and ceremonies.

This is one sure fire way to identify the dodgy organisations, they claim to be ancient Native Amercian tradiaitons, often they have fake native medicine women involved or are groups with no native people involved at all. Occasionaly they will expolit a well meaning native elder for their own purposes.

They not infrequently hold sweat lodges, potentially lethally dangerous activities if not held properly by people who, in indigenous communities, are trained for decades and who make significant personal and financial sacrifies to serve their community in this way.

In indigenous communities medicine men and women do not usually provide therapy or personal transformation retreats. Sweatlodges are almost always open only to native people and never to outsiders.

In dangerous new age sweatlodges menstruating woman are encouraged to take part and even to have their own sweats. This would never happen in real sweatlodges. Ever.

This is not because menstruating women are considered dirty or polluted, there are other reasons. The website forum at www.newagefraud.org/smf is run by native people and is a helpful source of information.

Readers with strong stomachs can check out the videos on youtube, many if not all from women involved in the Red Tent movement, promoting face masks made from menstrual blood.

Obviously these videos can be used to discredit feminism.

It is one thing to break down harmful beliefs and taboos about menstruation. It is another thing altogether to promote a pseudo-spiritual movement based around menstruation.

Then there is the issue of "flow"

A lot of the New Thought movmement is concerend with "flow", menstrual flow, the flow of energy in the body, in corporations and in society generally.

There is a discourse that I have described before relating to unblocking stagnated / polluted energy from the body, from corporations and from society.

I believe that at some deeply conscious collective level we all can be manipulated by charming people claiming to remove badness, bring about "authentic" flow and freedom to the body to corporations and to society.

These discourses can be used to manipulate people, organisations and society.

Be on your guard.

Essential viewing

The appropriation of the identities of oppressed people, whether women or indigenous tribal people, runs through the new age scammers' activities like letters through a stick of rock

hoodathunkit · 06/09/2020 10:39

essential yet deeply disturbing viewing

Readers need to be aware of the oppression faced by indigenous people.

In these new age movements privileged people steal elements of the sacred traditions of real indigeous people and then use them to portary themselves as medicine men and women.

It is obscene

Readers concerned with the extremes of the TRA movement will detect a theme and some striking parallels that also resonate with recent news stories about academics pretending to be African American.

hoodathunkit · 06/09/2020 10:53

Even the movement to protest about the genocide of 1st Nations people and the horrific boarding schools described in the heart-breaking video above has been astroturfed by a vile scammer, Kevin Annett.

There is absolutely nothing no matter how sacred or sensitive that these vile scammers will not appropriate and / or astroturf

hoodathunkit · 06/09/2020 11:41

Some videos that illustrate how privileged people feel completely comfortable about appropriating what does not belong to them and do not care about the harm they cause to others

In these videos members of the Winnemem tribe confront new agers from the Rainbow Family of Living Light (of whom more later) who are hurting and disrepsecting their sacred lands.

Many fake native American tribes are involved in promoting prostitution as a sacred path.

This appropriation of indigenous people's sacred lands and ceremonies and tyically perverting them and combining them with sex cults and prostitution is abhorrent to native people.
