Has anyone heard of this organisation? I saw it being advertised outside of a local educational facility.

The name rings a bell but I can't help really.
The article on sexism in the education system (without calling it that) is pretty good, and some of the other posts are on more general gender equality, but most of the sections show its really a trans rights trust - or that is the principle area of interest.

The glossary of concepts is a bit more straight forward on what sex is, and the distinction with gender, than some similar glossaries, but it still doesn't really get to the heart of what 'a gender' or someone's gender, actually is.

It's one of the charities BBC removed from the Action Line pages.
Gender Trust is listed as "removed charity" on the Charity Commission's website.
Do they have a charity registration number?

There seem to be a few old links from other organisations to that website, but I can see why the BBC removed their link. That gendertrust.org.uk just seems to be an occasional post by Gina, who has no last name nor phone number/address.

Other LGBT organisations (I think GIRES but definitely Mermaids) complained about the BBC updating their webpage. In the letter Gender Trust was described as “former”.

This is the Mermaids version of the joint letter

When the letter first came out I tried to find the Gender Trust and they seem to have disappeared a while back...

Has there been any response to that letter btw? I too, would like to know what BBC's reasons were.

Didn't the BBC write something about wanting to remain impartial to political agendas? (Ha, that'll be a first).
I suspect they're conscious of all of the lawsuits and JD reviews about to hit the Gender clinics for maltreatment of children in the U.K , (esp after their recent doc on this) know they can longer officially support this scandal so are quietly stepping away.

InfiniteSheldon · 20/08/2020 06:28

I think the BBC said they were unable to report independently on the Tavistock Clinic (medical arm of Mermaids and Gender Trust) accusations re child negligence/inappropriate medical intervention whilst simultaneously raising money for them.

midclegs · 20/08/2020 06:38

Their recent Newsnight documentary was unbiased but also didn't hide anything.

I don't think it's coincidental that shortly after this the trans lobbying charities were dropped. As you (sort of) say, they can't air documentaries which are damning the Tavistock (and thus Mermaids and Gendered Intelligence) whilst simultaneously listing them as recommended charities on their website.

Thanks guys I thought it didn't look good. It's weird that it looks like it has been disbanded but the (massive banner) wasn't there the other week.
I will go back and take a picture of it today.
