Hi,
I am just giving a shout out to TheRealMcKenna ProdigalKitten and Michelle. I haven't seen these regulars around for a while and miss their input. Hope you are still here.

OP posts:

Same. I've learned so much from all three of them.

ArabellaScott · 19/08/2020 17:06

Me, too.

EchoCardioGran · 19/08/2020 17:11

And PurpleHoodie and Shedbuilder great contributions for those of us peering in.

Winesalot · 19/08/2020 17:19

I hope that they are all on holiday without wifi because it would be very poor form if they have been banned.

However, I also hope that they have simply name changed (and why out themselves?) and are still contributing their wisdom.

Mollscroll · 19/08/2020 17:41

If they’ve name changed to avoid targeted reporting they should stay under the radar.

334bu · 19/08/2020 17:43

According to the great Bunbury a lot of name changing has been going on.

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 19/08/2020 18:16

Women who mention child safeguarding, patterns of abusive control, and autogynephilia are being told they are "not in the spirit" and should "go well" even though they haven't been careful to tiptoe around all the special moderation rules that have been set up to bridle the feminist board.

Many of them have moved to spinster.xyz and a dedicated space for outspoken British feminists is being proposed on the new ovarit.com website (still in beta and currently invitation only).

It's such a tragedy that mumsnet could stand against the MRAs but have changed so much that they now allow women's speech to be policed, curtailed and silenced by the same people in different clothes.

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 19/08/2020 18:19

even though they have been careful

EchoCardioGran · 19/08/2020 18:19

" Bridle" is an appropriate term. I was appalled at the mental health thread (x2) deletions.

SisterWendyBuckett · 19/08/2020 18:28

Love these fab women
and have learnt so much from them.

Hope Ovarit comes about as I can't seem to register on spinster.xyz

BovaryX · 19/08/2020 18:53

If any of the esteemed missing posters have changed names, I don't want to 'out' them, though if that's happening through necessity, it's sad. When distinctive, interesting voices take a hiatus, they are missed.

OP posts:
PumbaasCucumbas · 19/08/2020 18:55

Would it work if they private messaged you and you could tell us if all is well?

BovaryX · 19/08/2020 18:58

I don't want anyone to feel obliged to PM me, I just noticed that several interesting posters seemed to be MIA and thought I would give a shout out to them.

OP posts:
PumbaasCucumbas · 19/08/2020 19:00

Fair enough, I just didn’t know if that was a non-outing way of checking in Smile

highame · 19/08/2020 19:07

Late July/ August, am guessing (but only guessing) hols for academia/parliament and hopefully they'll be back soon. Fingers crossed anyway.

Shedbuilder · 19/08/2020 19:15

Gosh, EchoCardiogran, thanks for the namecheck but I'm really not worthy to be mentioned alongside those in the title.

I'm sure it's the holidays.

PumbaasCucumbas · 19/08/2020 19:43

Echocardiogran is inspired name though Grin

EchoCardioGran · 19/08/2020 19:59

Ah I took this name so I can body swerve a certain GP in Liverpool and go straight to the cardio unit. There's a big label on me cardigan XX .

Couldn't face the kiss of life from "you know who".Wink

I have another name for Sunday best.

PumbaasCucumbas · 19/08/2020 20:02
Grin

Once you've name changed you can always change back temporarily - any name you use is yours forever. I change all the time depending on what sort of thread I'm on!

And, public service announcement - you don't have to go into 'settings' every time to change name. When posting you can type over the 'grey' preset default name in the 'Username' box (above the 'Message' box) with any other username that's yours - it'll then post as that name (but still default to the last one saved in 'settings' for any post you don't overwrite your username on.

This is true, but you have swap back (temporarily) if you want to start a thread or PM someone in your old NN. If you don’t, defaults to your current (grey) name.
popehilarious · 20/08/2020 00:03

Good point. I used to be in and out of 'settings' every 10 minutes though just to post, so this was a real lifechanger! Gotta be on the ball for name change fails too..

JellyFishSquish · 20/08/2020 00:04

Hey, thanks for the public service announcement pope! I change for different boards sometimes too.

Deliriumoftheendless · 20/08/2020 00:15

I can’t remember my password so I’m never changing (which is very unlike me in real life.)

Betheanne · 20/08/2020 06:42

How sad is this? We need to lurk in shadows, furtively changing our names? Don't mention the protection of our children! Don't dig beneath the surface!
Ovarit is up and running. Just yesterday they were talking about setting up a space for Mumsnetters. ovarit.com/o/Ovarit/1979/answers-to-how-do-i-get-an-invite-code-and-other-questions
