Blistering quote - I suppose it’s easier to fully explore ones misogyny when it’s dressed up in “progressive” clothes.

StandUpStraight · 16/08/2020 17:44

Fantastic article. No messing about.

MadamBatty · 16/08/2020 17:47

Pity there’s no comments with the article.

LillianBland · 16/08/2020 17:52

That’s a good article. They have it on their twitter.

'In a fractured society, dogma – whether it concerns gender or politics or any number of other issues – provides a sense of identity. This new era of tribalism requires a strict set of rules, the first of which is that anyone who disagrees with us is malign. If someone holds a different opinion to that around which we gather, then their intention must be to harm us.'

Good quote.

Bella2020 · 16/08/2020 19:51

I just read a small part of the article to my husband and he said 'it's political correctness gone haywire.' Exactly what Nick Cave pointed out in his piece, mentioned in this excellent article.

Not too long ago, those who were classed as 'ists' or 'phobics' were really easy to spot, almost as though they had headcase tattooed on their forehead. Now, really excellent people are classed as transphobes and bigots.

Why aren't more people in this cesspit of progressives wondering if there might be a problem with their ideology?

littlbrowndog · 16/08/2020 23:01

👏👏👏 grea5 piece

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 17/08/2020 08:22

The ideology promoted by trans rights activists is a rigid one. Anyone who declares themselves a woman is to be treated as a woman and permitted access to women’s spaces. Those who suggest this might be problematic are to be silenced. And women who dare not to be silenced must feel the consequences of their audacity.

Thanks for the link, OP. And big thanks to Euan McColm for writing this powerful opinion piece. I hope he is too valued to be cancelled. The TRAs have already set up a ‘Euan McColm must resign’ Facebook page.

teawamutu · 17/08/2020 08:23

Really excellent piece. Particularly good to see it in a Scottish paper - although it's lacking the point that the SNP are the worst of the woke, and could have made the link to the GRA and Hate Crimes Bill.

thereplycamefromanchorage · 17/08/2020 08:30

Fully agree with this article - if Richard Leonard disciplines Jenny Marra, he can look forward to losing a lot of support, which frankly Scottish Labour can barely afford.

gardenbird48 · 17/08/2020 08:38

Thanks for sharing 334 - an excellent article. I have shared it to my Facebook - deep breath wish me luck everyone Hmm

Loved this article, I have had the pleasure of meeting Jenny Marra MSP in person and she is fab. She's asking the same questions in public that so many are in private.

I think the way the author of the article has framed it is absolutely right.

I was about to say, “she’s a brave women”, then I thought how bloody ridiculous it is to have to think that a woman needs courage to be able to speak about protecting women! This is what it has come to. Women being thought of as brave, because they run the risks of name calling, job/position loses, rape and murder threats. Feminism has has so much work still left to do. I mean REAL feminism, that centres females.
YourObedientServant · 17/08/2020 13:17

Totally agree. She is brave, and to say that she is brave, purely for questioning something that makes absolutely no logical or scientific sense (the 'gender assigned at birth' nonsense) makes me terrified about the insanity of the world we live in.

OvaHere · 17/08/2020 13:31

Good article. Very straight to the point.

Politicians and organisations need to understand that these questions and points of conflict are not going to go away and they are going to have to address them sooner or later.
