Just saw this listed for tonight at 9.
Following a couple of rape investigations through the police and CPS process.

Only 1 in 78 cases get a conviction. Angry

Actually I think that was "reported rapes".

That police team has a specialist unit so they have an understanding of the nature of the crime and the ways in which victims report and react to it.
The statistics for CPS not taking cases to court are shocking.

And when you see the world of difference between 1982 and now in how the victim is interviewed and generally treated, you have to wonder why therefore, you still end up with ever fewer cases going forward to court and conviction. It's almost as if there is a compensating mechanism to ensure that 'plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose'.
I listen to that senior prosecutor and I'm thinking she's starting from a very negative standpoint. It's like being defeated before it even gets started.
