I wrote something about this new trend of celebrities deleting their tweets supporting Mwermaids and attacking JK Rowling.

I saw this coming and went through the Mermaids Twitter feed about a month ago and screenshotted a lot of the recent celebrity endorsements. Happy to share on this thread (or elsewhere) if it's helpful

I've faced criticism irl and considered deleting my previous tweets supporting JKR in order to not 'rock the boat' (especially with potential employers) but then I thought... no. I believe in what I've said - I did my research, considered all sides, and posted what I felt was true - and I stand by it.
In the crazy-ass circumstance that I'm wrong and begin to believe differently, I'll own up, and post that instead. But I'll never delete.
The (to coin a phrase) 'transitioners' from one stance to the other are the most valuable for both sides. And the deleters spineless squibs.

Glinner's battle seems everlasting, and I for one am grateful for the critical spotlight on those who jump on a dangerous bandwagon without fear of question.

I’ve used iPhone screen recording to capture an irresponsible video or two from YouTube before the large organisation responsible sends them down the memory hole.

Keep on archivin’, folks Wink

There is already a thread about this

People deleting tweets thinking “that deletes my action”. Dishonest.

AnyOldPrion · 11/08/2020 23:39

I delete lots of my tweets on the grounds that it makes it less likely Twitter will remove me, and to prevent activists trawling my timeline and finding something banworthy I wrote six years ago before the rules changed.

Are they selectively removing tweets about Mermaids and leaving everything else in place, or might they be having a general cull?

PotholeParadise · 11/08/2020 23:46

I just saw a tweet about Mermaids disappear as I was literally about to screenshot it.

Good work!

Meant to say thank you too; so Thank you!

SetYourselfOnFire · 12/08/2020 04:47

I'm dying to know what they know that we don't. What we already knew about how unethical and reckless Mermaids was didn't matter to them last week.

PinkBiro · 13/08/2020 10:06

Thanks again, Glinner - interesting article.

I am glad you did. I have a few screen shots and archived endorsements too.

Me too.

Thanks. Patiently waiting for those wheels to come off.
