He's steadfastly refusing to accept the label 'cis', saying no one has the right to impose a label on anyone else. Not anti-trans, call yourself what you want, but don't force other people to accept a label, especially one that is used as an insult. Yes, Captain!

He's fabulous, he just keeps going, taking down twitter troll after twitter troll.

Yes, still alive and kicking at 89! Though I think his dislike of cis is more that he objects to the accusation of white male privilege, rather than the labelling of women as accepting toxic gender stereotypes.

Yeah he's great- he won't let them use any labels as an insult towards him. He deals with it in such a lovely, humourous way. Of course he doesn't have nearly the amount of disgusting vitriol flung at him that a woman would but he seems to just bat it away.

I follow him generally and nearly fell off my chair when I read the exchanges he was having.
Some idiot said that all his Trekkie followers were inevitably right wing and homophobic and so it was dangerous to criticise the word "cis " because it played into their prejudices.
Obviously that poster knows fuck all about the subversive diversity that has always been a feature of Trek lore from way back. And doesn't know that Shatner has always been nobody's lapdog. Even if I occasionally disagree with him.

I started the other thread because I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across the argument and he just wasn't giving in. However I have seen this which isn't so good.

Yes I saw this too and another poster ashermaj pointed out previous dealings with public/fans which show him in a very misogynist light.

Over many many years Shatner has put his money and time into charitable works to support people with autism. It is a big thing for him.

I don't follow him at all (not on twitter) but whatever his motivations or other opinions, I'm glad he's on the same side on this issue (against compelled speech) and I like his attitude towards the idiots trying to take him down.
