I get her newsletters and this one has stuff about Beta Blockers:

"You see, as the study authors noted, “prior trials and meta-analyses enrolled nearly 5 men for every woman.” And so, as a result, “any differences in the effect of beta blockers among women would have been concealed by the effect of beta blocker therapy among men.”

but that beta blockers "may be an acute precipitant in heart failure in women"...

And about exercise in relation to heart health as we get age "this matters, because as women get older, their blood pressure gets higher compared to men of the same age, and elevated blood pressure is more directly linked to cardiovascular mortality in women than in men."

But that our arteries don't stiffen like men's do as we age but oh, our blood pressure increases as we age, no shit? I was thinking of this board when I read that! As we wake up to the injustice no bloody wonder our blood pressure increases!

"So to sum up: for women, the blood-pressure drugs (developed using male subjects) don’t work as effectively, but resistance training just might do the trick."

Her newsletters are really informative and she confirms she is now writing a follow up to Invisible Women.

That's really interesting, I used to get her news email, haven't seen this one. Will have to have a look in my spam folder.
