Can anyone explain what has just happened with this?

I am not sure I am fully understanding.

Am I correct in saying that a woman was setting up fake accounts and urging others to share their stories and it's now been revealed it was mostly untrue?

And it says something that I'm too apprehensive to even summarise what seems to be going on.

As people are saying tho' - #MeTooStem will always be bigger than one woman tho' I recognise the scale of harm from this.

That is what I am thinking to, but I am also seriously worried about all those that shared stories with the person/people and organisation.
