Wow, that was dull. You get the vibe of being trapped in a corner at a party with the author while he holds forth about his hobby. And not even a good hobby, but like he collects empty wine bottles or something. The article is so soporific I can't be arsed to get mad about the frankly repulsive value system on full display.

But the comments are worth it. Even the Buzzfeed commentariat isn't having this. My favourite was when someone pointed out the cost of one of these surgeries could fund 200 cleft palate surgeries in the developing world. A self-identified "cis female" responded accusing that person of shallowness!

oh btw it just occurred to me I may have misgendered the author in my comment! They're called Alex. If I have perpetrated a misgendering against Alex I apologise, it wasn't on purpose.

So should those of us who are biologically female but don't conform to gender stereotypes also be entitled to facial feminisation surgery? And would it be a good thing if we were? I suspect many of us fail to conform to the measurements for a “normal” female appearance.

My bff has very heavy facial features, her father described her as 'masculine'
She also has a lot of facial and body hair.
She is a professional woman who works in the media. No one suggests that she should receive financial help towards her appearance.
