A call out for Gender Critical Green Party members

GREEN PARTY MEMBERS - If there are any members left on here who are interested in trying to overturn the current policies about women, and who want to know which motions to support , here are 3 that you may want to look at. The deadline is evening of Saturday 1st August

Each motion needs 11 votes in order to get onto the agenda , so even if you don't normally get involved in these things as a member, giving a vote to these motions is going to help the people trying to fight this within the party.

You can find the motions through this survey monkey link www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MotionsAut2020Mobile

These are 'E' motions, so you have to skip through A-D

'Reaffirming women’s sex-based rights (2)' (please don't click on the number 1 with the same title)
This motion is to make sure data is gathered on the basis of sex rather than gender

'Strengthening the rights of transgender, non-binary and agender people' -This proposal is to remove the 'trans women are women ' text from green party policy'

and
'Protecting trans-identified children and young people' This proposal is to strengthen the safeguards around young people wanting to transition

@letterem

I am not well versed in the intricacies of the voting system, but if you add all the candidates in order of preference including the ones you are not keen on, the ones you put at 4 and 5 still get some points. if you leave them off altogether and put RON, they get 0 points, and it allows for the Re-opening of Nominations
I followed your lead. Here's hoping!

Any idea how many votes usually get cast?

@letterem

Why are greens so weird about sex/gender?

I've been wanting to vote Green for ages (did for Europe but not for General Election) as I think that ultimately the environment is the most pressing issue of our time. However the whole treatment of women by Greens along with the Challenor debacle is appalling.

But I have reached a stage now where I see that every party treats women like sh*t so I have taken out a membership of the Green Party. Do you think there is any hope to salvage the Greens? I saw Beatrix Campbell has left the party over sex/gender issues.

They finally let me back in, and I accessed the website and have voted. Fingers crossed we get a better group of people at the top, this time!

Hi, @GreenUp
This is definitely a thorn in the side of the green topsoil .
The Green Party Women facebook page sometimes posts up 'controversial' (!) articles., but they always attract complaints,

www.facebook.com/greenpartywomen/

Voting is coming up for the motions that will be in the final agenda for conference It starts on the 14th (I think) . If you can join the voting for the Prioritisation Ballot, which ranks motions in order of preference, that would be great.
You can see all the motions in the attached PDF.
There are of course other important motions , but in terms of gender critical ones, my choice and rank would be :

E9 Rights of transgender, non-binary and agender people
Synopsis
'This revision emphasises the Green Party's support for transgender and non-binary rights, adds a mention of agender rights, and removes divisive statements that distract us from these rights. It also removes some internal contradictions, and claims about existence and reality which are outside the scope of rights policy.'

E7 Ensuring that sex and gender are not conflated.
Synopsis
Sex refers to biology which is immutable, gender is a social construction
Discrimination against women may be based on their perceived sex, however there are aspects of discrimination females face based on sex rather than gender.
To address discrimination it is imperative that accurate sex- segregated data is collected.
.........................................................
E8 Protecting trans children and young people
Synopsis
Policy Motion to amend Green Party policy RR405 to protect the trans-identified child and to amend RR532 and RR533 to cross-reference them to the overriding amendment to RR405.
Enabling Motion to develop detailed policy to protect the trans-identified child from powerful medico-pharmaceutical corporations that seek to profit from them.

My apologies to the NMer who sent me a private message with useful information about voting choices. For some reason I can't send a PM in return; it simply won't send. So if you're reading here, I just want to say thanks for the help!

I've voted now. Really hoping we can bring the Green Party back to the issues it was founded for.
