I was a Founding Member of the Women’s Equality Party and Chair of the Oxford Branch until last week. I posted #IStandWithJKRowling and IOC petition on WEP Oxford Fb. WEP called these “offensive” & kicked me out. WEP don’t support sex based rights.

There is now a WEP Women's Sex-Based Rights Caucus on facebook www.facebook.com/wepwomen/

The penny has dropped. The Women's Equality Party is designed to get women to give up all the privileges we've been blessed with and to give men an equal playing field, poor things.

calllaaalllaaammma · 29/07/2020 15:20

Are there any organisations that were set up for women that are not centering trans ideology?

Manderleyagain · 29/07/2020 16:06

The most recent blog on the wep sexed based rights caucus Web site (linked above) explains the conversation that's happening within the party.

I went to the online discussion referred to in that blog - & I am also still hopeful. I think it's a genuine process to find a way forward, although that obviously doesn't mean the outcome will necessarily be what I want.

"I read this as the training was about not putting things on social media which don't match their policies.
That doesn't seem an awful thing for a political party."

That's how I read it too. Especially at a time when that policy area is under discussion. It doesn't make the situation less stupid - but the issue is that the whole situation is a mess & they are currently trying to pick their way out of it.

A Woman's Place and forwomen.scot are two.

FiLiA are one of them.
stumbledin · 29/07/2020 18:29

I think both FiLia and WPUK include GC transwomen, which in terms of "splits" means that within GC politics there are also splits Wink

She's responded to the accusations of racism etc. I agree with her, lots of the so called policies are really mediocre waffle when you would want a Party claiming this space to be outstanding on their subject. Heather BE has been proven to be absolutely right and yet because some of the inner circle doesn't agree she's out.

Really poor quality approach and work at the centre.

Manderleyagain · 29/07/2020 20:12

Oh yes. She's also replied direct to wep:

"i challenged WEP on constantly using other organisations' ideas and protests, like BLM or DRA, rather than having any of their own. They wilfully interpreted this as racism/ableism in order to discredit me. I have no interest in wasting further time on them."

nonsenceagain · 29/07/2020 20:34

Well done Hilary 👊

Include but not centre? Is that not a difference?
smithsinarazz · 29/07/2020 21:08

WEP published a really bell-endish tweet complaining about traffic calming a bit ago. It was pointed out that women are disproportionately unlikely to be perpetrators of traffic offences & more likely to suffer as a consequence of unsafe roads - more likely to have kids to look after, less likely to drive, more likely to say they're too scared to cycle - etc. To no avail. Going off the subject slightly, but backs up the idea that WEP are led by donkeys.

stumbledin · 29/07/2020 22:37

Not for those who think they should not be there at all, and that by being there undermine the arguement that you can not change sex. Because to the public eye they symbolise that society says you can!

"What do we want!"
"Women's equality!"
"When do we want it!"
"Whenever suits men!"

They're an embarrassment.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

Mandu Read, the party leader, gave a Diva award to Dr Harrop last year. That tells you her attitude to women.

I'm torn here between wanting to scream and Grin because Haddock is indeed a diva, but I suspect they were using the word in a different way ...
