This one has been posted on the local news and police pages, very clearly stating that a woman has been sentenced for sexual abuse of several children, including assault by penetration of a female under 13.

Comments following the posts on Twitter and Facebook indicate that the individual self identifies as female.

There's no indication of where the person will serve the sentence. But from the articles published, it does seem that the crime will be recorded among the female statistics.

I guess I'm just posting because I'm surprised that this particular case hasn't attracted as many questions as I would have expected. Is this just the norm now?

What is absolutely appalling about that article is that the two male defendants committed absolutely despicable crimes and yet they don't feature in the headline. Why not?

Cos they are men.

It’s almost..”normal” (not the right word but you get my meaning) that a man could do this, but very rare and therefore more shocking when a woman does it

I'm confused. It looks like photos of three men one of whom has dyed red hair.

Is one of them claiming to be a woman?

This article is about the sentencing of Calder. The two men were sentenced separately on a previous occasion.

So this really is a woman? That's interesting. I couldn't tell, so I googled and looked at comments to clarify. Not that comments would necessarily be accurate, obviously

I couldn’t tell either. My friend did a child care course at college with her.

I saw this case the other day and was really puzzled. The picture looked like a man to me, and as there had been two cases in the past month where men convicted on child sex offences had been referred to as women, I thought maybe it was the same thing going on here. Extraordinary that this was actually a woman.

And it shows pictures of 3 male defendants and not the woman in question. Wonder why.

I saw this on Facebook a day or two ago. I similarly thought the pink haired one was a man Id as female. Couldn't understand the comments, but it makes sense now.

That’s horrific, how disturbing

I thought the woman was actually a natal female from the photo. I think we’re so used to women being used to describe women with penises we. Don’t know what to believe anymore.

Those crimes sound so horrific and the sentences seem extremely lenient 😔
