Just filling in a survey after updating electoral register details online and get to this:

Some more information about you - To which gender identity do you most identify with?

Male
Female
Transgender Male
Transgender Female
Prefer to self-describe
Prefer not to disclose
Not listed other:

I'm leaning towards Prefer to self-describe with "My SEX is female, gender is a social construct" Any better ideas??

Same here!

I do much the same, though if there's space I mention the patriarchal straight jacket that is gendered roles. Recently I've been tempted to say Roman Catholicism for my belief, but Woman for my Sex Wink

Thanks! Doubt it will ever be read but tis the right thing to do :)

Yes - go with your plan.

It makes no sense - is a transgender female a transman? A female who is trans. That is how I would read it but I bet TW read it differently.

HarryHarry · 23/07/2020 21:23

Does “transgender male” mean biologically male but transitioned to live as a woman? (whatever that means). Or does it mean trans man? Getting confusing. To me “male” is a biological term referring to a human with male anatomy.

I do that - and ask if ‘gender’ is actually relevant in this particular instance or if they actually need to know ‘sex’?

334bu · 24/07/2020 08:42

I would fill in other and say none as I don't have a gender identity. As they haven't asked about sex I wouldn't add anything.

Ugh the wording! "To which" do you most "identify with"?!
Should be "to which do you most identify" or "with which do you most identify" although that then raises the question of the difference between "identifying with" and "identifying to"(?!) and doesn't even cover "identifying as", which is exclusionary and transphobic imo.
