Done - go JK! Lol Scrimps Grin

ShinyFootball · 23/07/2020 00:19

Does anyone know who is organising this?

I followed the link but it's not clear.

Amy Winehouse has a statue in Camden. It is so tiny. I am 5'3 and she was shorter than me and so so slender. I got quite emotional when I saw it.

She was local to me and I knew people who knew her.

She was an amazing artist and a complicated young woman. The behaviour of the press was gross.

I don't see male stars who have liked drink etc having such a negative reaction. Even ones with way worse stuff.

She was a global star. And is this about role models? Or women & London. Women, like men, come in a wide range.

In short. That comment pissed me off.

Helen Steel - Temple or Chancery Lane nearest to Royal Courts of Justice.

ShinyFootball · 23/07/2020 00:31

I've googled and can't find it!

Can anyone link to the organisers please pretty please Grin

Viviennemary · 23/07/2020 00:41

No thanks to JKR.

HeyBells · 23/07/2020 00:49

Elizabeth Fry for St Paul's, nearest to Newgate Street (prison)

DeRigueurMortis · 23/07/2020 00:53

Done Grin

HaveaStock · 23/07/2020 01:08

I was going to say Beryl Bainbridge for Camden - Amy Wine house also a possibility. She was immensely talented and should be remembered for that rather than her sad demise.

HaveaStock · 23/07/2020 01:11

Marianne Faithful for Hampstead?

Anyone can choose their gender. No one here would disagree with that.

I didn't realise a train station in London was so pivotal to the UK national representation tbh. Have you forgotten the Scots, Welsh, NI, and in fact anyone not on a line that goes into kings X?

occa · 23/07/2020 01:39

Done for both.

CiderJolly · 23/07/2020 02:06

Done!

Poppyisa · 23/07/2020 02:55

Done, Terrific idea. Thanks for posting

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 23/07/2020 06:38

@BigBass1980

this is disgusting, jk Rowling is a awful woman that would refuses people their rights to choose their gender just for popularity. honestly, i don't want an anti-trans as a symbol of my country
How is she 'anti-trans'? Did you actually read her blog?
Catnuzzle · 23/07/2020 06:50

Done!

highame · 23/07/2020 07:57

BigBass1980:

Wrong on most counts. She's not transphobic, It is about women in London not the country. It's an interesting way of celebrating outstanding women, whose magnificent achievements are not as celebrated as they should be

Finally, she has never appeared to be disgusting and awful, not in my, or the dictionary definition of those words anyway

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 23/07/2020 08:27

Want to nominate Barbara Castle but not a Londoner. Could we claim Elephant & Castle for her though?

Also I would love to nominate Trisha for Grange Hill Grin

peekaboob · 23/07/2020 08:51

Done. Also cited her contribution to the tourism industry worldwide. I doubt Universal Studios would have the visitors it does without JK!

Cuntysnark · 23/07/2020 09:03

Done

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 23/07/2020 09:03

I've just looked up Jennie Lee who was made Baroness of the city of Westminster, although also has a blue plaque in Chelsea.

The OU has helped thousands of women with children to achieve part-time qualifications.

Highfalutinlootin · 23/07/2020 09:06

Done!

CaveMum · 23/07/2020 15:45

CaveMum · 23/07/2020 15:48

How about Emily Davison for Morden Station - it’s the closest one I can find to Epsom, where she threw herself in front of the King’s horse during the 1913 Derby.

Tanith · 23/07/2020 16:27

Antonia Forest for Hampstead
